FRIDAY 6th JULY
Brian Higgins
"The peoples favourite comedian" - The Stage
Brian Higgins one of Scotland's finest comedians moved to London in 1994 for the weather - three years later he was a full time comedian. Higgy, as he is affectionately known, enjoys his stand up and it shows in a very strong set. He is one of the most sought after comperes in the UK.
Brian’s principal interests in life include himself, Scottish people, religion and of course drinking- but the difference in Brian’s case is that is genuinely funny.
Paid no finer a compliment than to be likened to an early Billy Connolly, Higgy delivers his diatribe on life’s funny (and not so funny) ups and downs in an energetic style that has won him fans across the UK and even as far afield as Dubai.
A favourite with university crowds, he has also branched out into the big bad world of television and radio and has recently been seen with Al Murray on Time Gentleman Please and heard on the Fred MacAulay Show.
Gavin Webster
"He's the best thing to cme out of Newcastle since Alan Shearer" - THE SUN
Gavin Webster's style of comedy is loud, sharp and controversial - and audiences love him for it. A definite Geordie, Gavin has superb stage presence. His material is bold and provocative yet delivered in a charming manner - which has brought him much praise and attention.
Gavin Webster has now established himself as one of the most exciting talents to emerge on the national comedy circuit in recent years. After turning his back on the comedy double-act, he went solo in 1995 and hasn't looked back.
Gavin performed in Does Doug Know with Daisy Donavon for Channel 4 as a regular team captain and currently performs at every major comedy venue throughout the UK including the prestigious Comedy Store's 'Men At Work' topical comedy night.
He has also supported + LEE EVANS, + JACK DEE and + PHILL JUPITUS on tour.
Phil Butler
"Without doubt, one of the most exciting and original finds in comedy in recent years" - THE GUARDIAN
Phil Butler has been performing for over 15 years and has enjoyed a career which seems to get better all the time.
He started as a comedy magician but soon realised that being a comic is his true vocation. His boundless confidence and razor sharp wit will quickly endear him to any audience be it a comedy club, corporate or family crowd.
His fast moving act has taken him all over the world, from cruising in the Caribbean and the Med, to entertaining the Armed Forces stationed everywhere from Northern Ireland and the Falklands to Bosnia and Croatia.
More recently, Phil has found himself in Europe and the Far East as part of the ever-growing comedy circuit where he has become a firm favourite in the UK clubs including Jongleurs and the Comedy Store
Daniel Townes (AUS)
"Occasionally a breath of fresh air appears like comedian Daniel Townes...Go See Him" - ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE
Winner of FHM Magazine (AUS) Search For 'Australia's Funniest Man' Competition
OK here is a brief rundown of why I do comedy and how it all came to be.
Basically me and this comedy thing started off from the suggestion of a good friend from high school. He said I should try it, I contemplated it for about two years and eventually got the guts to have a go.
Things kind of snowballed from there and it is now 3.5years later. It is probably the most exciting thing I've ever done with my life. There is nothing better for me than making people laugh - I never thought id be able live off it.
And that's pretty much the whole story - short and sweet and it all happened by accident. I never wanted to be a Comedian, it was nothing that I'd ever even thought about until my mate suggested it to me.
To start with it was just me being 22 and not knowing what I was doing with my life, I just thought "yeah ill have a crack at that. Maybe. One day."
