Lost City Ramblers come from a deprived town called Winsford in Cheshire. Populated by 60's Liverpool and Manchester overspill and local yokels, surrounded by celebs and "business types". The bands broken families all hail from the former and all the members were born and raised on the sound of these cities in particular. "This place could be anywhere; you don't need big Ben to tell the time. Thank fuck I was born up North, it doesn't seem so cold anymore"
Over the last 18 months LCR have played close to 100 gigs, written over 200 songs and spent 2 months busking the length and breadth of the country to finance the recording of their debut album.
The album was recorded over the summer of 2006 at Salford's 6DB studio with "Ding" Archer (The Fall, PJ Harvey) " The Ramblers were a dream to record, with nothing taking more than 2 or 3 takes, it just seems effortless when they go for it" www.myspace.com/6dbstudio
The record captures the bands free-wheelin, raucous electric live sound perfectly as well as showcasing their songwriting skills on the stripped down acoustic numbers. "It’s a starting point for a career. It shows some of our earliest ideas brought to fruition and on the whole I think were all proud of what we achieved with it."
Lost city Ramblers are not an easy band to pigeon hole, their influences are far and wide, musically they share a love of rock'n'roll, punk, 60's garage bands, Northern Soul, Folk and any music which "Says what it means and means what it says!"

Since the Ramblers got together they have built up a strong following of fans at gigs and on-line who help to promote and support them around the world. With this in mind the band decided to set up their own label as they have no desire to get mixed up in the dirty dealings of the majors, mini-majors. The label will release its debut single "Troubles in the World/I was a Teenage Assassin" in March next year.
"Kulacks Records" is run by the band and their followers and is a true independent record label. "There are so many bands just sitting round on their arses waiting for it to come and wasting their time, if you want something doing you have to do it yourself!" says drummer Mick Pauline
Basically it's all about freedom, freedom to play whatever style of music Lost city ramblers choose, freedom to sign whatever music they like, freedom to work and party with the people they choose. You cannot control the ramblers you can merely watch, appreciate and if you believe what we believe you can come and join in!
