In 2005, Family & Friends For Freedom Fund sponsored many fund-raising events, attended Street Fairs and Parades, sold t-shirts, bracelets, pins and sponsored an event at the local VA Hospital to help the public become aware of our newly founded organization and the needs of our Injured. Thanks to these events and individual donations, Family & Friends raised over $100,000. We financially assisted 13 military families and the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. Our Beefsteak Dinner Fund Raising Event was the highlight of the year. We were able to fly or drive five Injured Marines and their families from as far west as Montana and as local as Jersey City, NJ to participate in this event. During their visit they toured the Intrepid Museum, enjoyed a two-hour Circle Line tour, and raised two American Flags at Ground Zero. The Marines were able to have dinner together and discuss personal experiences of their tour in Iraq and the stories of their injuries. Two of these Marines and the father of a Fallen Hero spoke at our dinner. Everyone in attendance that evening remembered we were at war.Family & Friends For Freedom received referrals throughout the year from case workers at Bethesda Naval Center, Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital and the VA hospital in West Orange, New Jersey and Northport, New York. Several family members have also contacted us directly through our web site. Our MissionOur mission is to raise funds for Injured Marines and their families.
