A must for every radio personality
Reading, time with my writers’ groups, time with friends, my radio work, sleeping late on weekends, cooking vegetarian meals, playing with my two cats, summer camping in state parks, road trips to Chi-town, comedy-sportz, attending poetry readings and author events, learning and performing West African hand-drumming, listening to public radio, the fall Renaissance Festival, going to independent bookstores for great literary finds, plays at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Fringe Festival, and seeing films every year at the MSP-IFF.

Reading is definitely a passion of mine. I grew up surrounded by books, and developed a love for story telling and live theatre thanks to my two English professor parents. :)
I taught English Literature after college, as a foreign instructor at a university in southern China where I corrupted the minds of my young Chinese college students with reading assignments of great American and European writers, also doing a weekly Chinese-Western radio program on the weekend, waxing Western-culture and sharing anecdotes to entertain the locals listening. A real hoot. When I decide to stop being lazy and transcribe the audio of some of those programs; well, I'll crank out some short stories about that wonder(ful) year. ;)
One of my favorite experiences was an undergrad January term abroad in England, for a "Literary Ventures Across England" experience. Stratford Upon Avon. Canterbury. York. London. Dover. Poets Corner in Westminster Abbey. I've traveled to Dublin numerous times to visit relatives and take many walking literary tours. My father wrote his PhD on Irish poet Patrick Kavanaugh. His study where he typed his dissertation was also my nursery in Dublin; probably why I have random typewriter dreams where I wake up swearing that someone is typing in my bedroom. Very strange. Here's a recent list of authors I've read and enjoyed thoroughly. I'm open to suggestions for new authors to read so email me if you have one in mind: Emily Dickenson, Philippa Gregory, Laurie Lindeen, Hilary Duff, Nuala O'Faolain, Koren Zailckas, Heather King, Azar Nafisi, Elizabeth Gilbert, E.M. Forester, Jennifer Weiner, Janet Fitch, Helen Fielding, Barry Eisler, Holly Peterson, Michael Gruber, Lauren Weisberger, Ridley Pearson, Jonatha Ceely, N.S.
