About Me

Born in Tokyo, raised in southern California and Germany by globetrotting school teachers, Kevin was already hard at work as a high school English teacher by the tender age of 21. Realizing that he could not keep his music inside, he took a leap of faith, and started touring full time in 1997. In the past ten years Kevin has sold 50,000 records through independent distribution, sung on the Today Show, in Carnegie Hall, and headlined at the Phildephia Folk Festival.

For his debut EP, Things to Keep in Mind While Balancing, which was released in Summer ‘06 on his own Brilliant Records label, Kevin performed most of the instruments and all of the vocals. Darren Rust, a well respected IPR instructor, and master mixer, chipped in on some guitars and programming as well. Griffin Woodworth, played cello.

The EP played on over 100 radio stations last summer, charting as high as 3 in such markets as NYC, Tampa Bay and Milwaukee, just to name a few. MTV has just signed an agreement with Kevin to play his EP on three of their original programs this spring, including The Real World.

Kevin’s concern for the environment has led him to purchase carbon offsets for his touring in '06/'07. Since Kevin’s music derives so much of its inspiration from the beauty of the Earth, he feels that it is important to promote folks like Terra Pass, who support alternative energy sources which will allow our grandchildren to enjoy the same beauty we do.

MySpace impacted his life in more ways than the one in 2006 – Kevin not only found his girlfriend in London, but also exploded as the 2 independent folk rock artist in Minnesota. He looks forward to the year ahead, a year of rocking the students he once aimed to be teaching.
