Born outside Philadelphia, Justin Goldner began teaching himself guitar at age 13 and immersed himself in all the music he could find, from blues and funk to bluegrass, hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-beat, reggae, Balkan, Arabic, Turkish and Greek music. A graduate of New York University's Jazz Performance program, Justin combined studies in classical and jazz guitar and piano with a deep love for the bass to tackle his wide-ranging interests one- (and sometimes several-) at-a-time.
The 2008 release of Una Passeggiata showcased Justin's affinity for jazz and world music while Funky Butter's long-awaited Made of You revealed Justin's skills at producing and arranging sophisticated-yet-soulful pop music. He has been fortunate to make music with John Scofield, Chris Potter, Wayne Krantz, Richard Bona, Lenny Pickett, Brad Shepik, and Matt Darriau, as well as his mentor, Meshell Ndegeocello.
Continuously seeking out the unfamiliar, Justin harbors a deep passion for groove, culture and self-respecting women.
