Add to My Profile | More Videos.. msprm name="movie"Javon Townes born December 30, 1980 in Boston, Massachusetts realized his talent as a singer at the tender age of nine years old. After always being told by family members including his Grandmother who raised him, that he was blessed with this talent. Growing up in the streets of Roxbury, Mattapan and Hyde Park, which are known as the most notorious ghettos in the city of Boston; JV grew accustomed to having to ward off the constant violence and oppression that the streets emanate. This ingrained in him the fierce desire to overcome this oppression. Infact, it was at the age of seventeen that JV made the decision to pursue a career as an R&B singer when he began to use his songwriting and singing abilities as an outlet for his frustrations. However it became a bit more than that, as he began to create a category of R&B that blended conventional rap and soulful R&B with a twist of the street. Subsequently the rap singing style, from which JV DaRapSinga took his name, was born. When asked what he brings to the game he says, “Originality and tasteful creativity.” In describing his style, his answer is, “I write raps and I sing them, or should I say I vocally arrange raps.” JV draws his inspiration from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, New Edition, Jay-Z and Busta Rhymes. JV DaRapSinga is an artist known for knocking out catchy choruses for local rappers. With hooks like the one in “Get Right”, by Dre Robinson a tune that also had raps by Mobb Deep was a song that got national airplay largely due to JV’s “Party ain’t a party” hook. It was this song that earned him an award for Collaboration of the Year at the MIC awards in June 2006. In closing it can be said that after opening for industry headliners like Jay-Z, Jadakiss, Beanie Seigel, 50 Cent, and Babs from DA Band, JV’s soulfully raw voice, infectious lyrics and rap-songwriting style make him one to watch. With the album in the chamber, ready to go, JV DaRapSinga now just has to prepare himself for the stardom that is sure to follow.
