The older one grows, the more one likes indecency.- Virginia Woolf

About Me

Dependable, eager to please, opinionated but fair. Music soothes my soul, and life is a roller coaster. If I seem to have high expectations it's only because I am that much harder on myself....and let me tell you something, Ignorance IS bliss.....Make a loan at Kiva.org! It's a nice thing to do and pretty much risk free...check it out!My life story:My day job:I grew up on the Jersey shore...

My Interests

My Dog Anna! (The sweetest dog on this Planet Earth) and my crazy kitty MOJ. Home repair and maintenance of my old house (by pure necessity not desire), All kinds of original music, DJing, Live Music, Politics, Movies, Film and Documentaries, Pop Culture and the dissection thereof. I closely follow politics too, as I am horrified at what this current administration is doing to our Economy, Our Debt, our World reputation, Personal Liberties, Environment, etc..Anna Banana napping in the sun...

I'd like to meet:

Like minded individuals who get IT the same way I do...and stimulating revolutionaries who remind us to try harder and keep our eyes wide open......Literal examples, Dead and very much Alive (thankfully) include but is not limited to....Patti Smith (and Fred Sonic Smith), Iggy Pop, R.Crumb, Bill Hicks, Jon Stewart, John Doe, Exene, Viggo Mortensen, Kurt Cobain, Frida, Che, Van Gogh, Steven Colbert, Hunter S. Thompson, Wayne Coyne....and a zillion others. I am more of a voyeur so I would prefer being in their vicinity to observe..and soak up their vibes ..Yet...I'm a bit shy at times and like to blend into the woodwork so to speak....

Music:

Me likey the Monks....I like all kinds of music, for the most part this has been playing at home lately: Nick Cave and those Bad Seeds, Andrew Bird, PJ Harvey, Twilight Singers, Gang of Four, Wire, Flaming Lips, Beck, The Frames, Tapes n Tapes, Death from above 1979, Magnetic Fields, Blonde Redhead, Caribou, Union Carbide Productions, Kyuss/Queens OTSA, Jesus Lizard, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, Ed Hall, Cows, MULE, Sleater Kinney, Helium, Margot and the Nuclear so and sos, Bettie Serveert, Motorhead, Laughing Hyenas, The Bags, Monster Magnet, Television, Richard Hell, Gang of Four, Elliot Smith, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Dead Moon, Wipers, Patti Smith, Stooges, Iggy, NY Dolls, Love/Arthur Lee, Johnny Thunders, Blondie, MC5, Turbo Negro, Tom Waits, VU, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Wanda Jackson, Freakwater, Handsome Family, Mekons, X, John Doe, Flatts and Scruggs, Gun Club, Germs, Dicks, Radiohead, Spacemen3/Spiritualized/theDarkside, Pumpkins, The Bevis Frond, Crime, The Cure, Dandy Warhols, Hives, The Damned, Misfits, Black Sabbath, Soundtrack of Our Lives, Roxy Music, Eno, Can, Thee Headcoats/Billy Childish, Spoon, Afghan Whigs, Jeff Buckley, Palace Brothers, Bonnie Prince Billy, Edith Frost, Libertines, Redd Kross, Mando Daio, 22-20's, Buzzcocks, The Pointed Sticks, Magazine, Outkast, Funkadelic, James Brown, Meters, Melvins, Wilco, Uncle Tupelo, Neil Young, Shins, the Darkness, Pixies, Strokes, Elvis Costello, Guided by Voices, Built to Spill, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Arcade Fire, Thee Michelle Gun Elephant from Japan, basically all kinds of Rock, Punk, Indy, old country and Bluegrass etc.... I can't tune out music in a bar, if it sucks then I have to get the hell out of there! Music is very important to me, I have to continually digest music to keep sane. Don't talk loud in my ear at a show please. I am listening to the show....otherwise I wouldn't be there. On another note...Bands...Bands who send me emails because I blocked friend requests....you send me an email to check you out...it's a waste of time...PLEASE STOP. The bands above are loved and listed because they did NOT solicit me. DO NOT SEND ME AN EMAIL TO CHECK OUT YOUR BAND. I find music on my own, thank you very much. Dead Moon...you should have seen them live..

Movies:

Shakes the Clown, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Slapshot (I LOVE PAUL NEWMAN), Room with a view, Wish you were here, Amelie, Buffalo 66, Brain Candy, V for Vendetta, Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Dead Alive and Meet the Feebles by Peter Jackson as well), High Fidelity (it mirrored my old life at Blackout! Freaked me out the first time!), Cohen Brothers, ie. The Big Lebowski (Jeff Bridges is cool, probably one of my favorite movies for repeated viewings), OH Brother where art thou?, Pedro Almodovar films, Lost in Translation/Virgin Suicides, Groundhog's Day, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Sabrina, Interesting Docs, and underground films of all kinds. (I am on the CUFF screening committee), I also dig Linklater, David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks and a bit of Lost Highway), Foreign films, Underground films (go to the Chicago Underground Film Festival People!!) Office Space, Sweet and Lowdown (Sean Penn is awesome in this), Deconstructing Harry, Hannah and her sisters, Annie Hall, Me without you, The Tao of Steve, Stealing Beauty, Jim Jarmusch films, well some of them but I love to hear him talk, Best in Show, Spinal Tap, A Mighty Wind, PT Anderson films, Wes Anderson films, The Life Aquatic, Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore etc. ....Being John Malkovich (Charlie Kauffman), Ghostworld, Crumb, American Splendor, and Trading Places (I have several lines down from that one) etc. There are probably more, like lately I liked Superbad and Knocked up and Once, 2 days in Paris...you know, stuff worth repeated viewings!

Television:

I really try not to watch too much, but sometimes when you live alone it happens. Rescue Me, Weeds, Simpsons, Family Guy, Mr. Show, Chappel Show, Daily Show, Colbert Report, CSI, Law and Order. I probably watch too much HGTV to get ideas for the house (and I like Clean House on the Style network...I love Miss Neecy!).I am also watching a lot of Real Estate shows. I am sorry to say I now tape Scott Baio is 45 and Single and watch that too. I got sucked in and I am not proud of it. What can I say? I was curious! I also like cop/law shows too, CSI, Law and Order, Numbers... NO CNN, no FOX or local news. It's all crap! Death, famine, war, and fluff. NO thanks! I get my news online at work when I am supposed to be on the phone with customers. I have also started recording all Countdown episodes on MSNBC with Keith Olbermann...the only newscaster whose disgust and rage seems to be in line with my own. I don't watch sports often, maybe during playoffs if we're doing well. I try to turn off the tube if I catch myself vegetating too much. Commercials for the most part completely annoy me, especially the raping of the underground music scene for car commercials, etc.. When I heard Blitzkrieg Bop in a Diet Pepsi ad I almost cried, then DEVO and I about ended it all. I don't want to get used to that.

Books:

A Confederacy of Dunces was laugh out loud HI-larious! Hunter Thompson, Milan Kundera, Dorothy Parker, Pablo Neruda. I also like HATE comics, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Post Office (I may go postal myself) and Ham on Rye by Bukowski, She's come Undone, 1984, The Chronicles of Narnia, the Pokey little puppy, Psychotic Reactions and Carborator Dung, Catcher in the Rye, the other classics you all know and love.

Heroes:

Vincent Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo,Edie Sedgewick, Bettie Page, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Joe Strummer, Patti Smith, Joey Ramone, Darby Crash and all the dead punkers we all love and miss...and Jon Stewart because he is saying what everyone needs to hear in a hilarious and articulate way...Must watch Daily show and Colbert Report nightly if possible.

I am becoming more and more fond of this woman!

I remember watching her on Politically Incorrect years ago and she would piss me off all the time. I think she was attacking Clinton a lot back then, but I guess he's looking pretty good to her these...
