Chechnya began in a small town, where Nick, Matt, David, and (former bass player) Mike had met up. Previous to Chechnya all the members had been in different bands with eachother, writing beautiful sex grooves. Then, in the icey winter of 2004 the four friends decided to start up a band that would take many different influences and then be subdued and molded into their own sound... The accomplishing feat was then named Chechnya. Things began to pick up for the budding band, with many shows, this nifty myspace page, and even a pretty good little demo. Sadly their good friend Mike decided to move to Portland, leaving the band bassless for about a week. It was then, in the passionate fall of 2006, that Mattooth stepped up and filled in the mighty bass position of Chechnya. The four have encountered many things and people along this crazy journey and can't wait to experience more. With Davids mighty scream and elegant Mexican crouch dance, Nicks crispy appletone , Matts brass balls of irish steal banging the drums, and the pigish dance grooves of matts bass, the band has developed a unique sound unlike any other.
