About Me

We're proud to announce that we were voted "BEST INSTRUMENTAL ACT" in the Inland Empire for the 2008 Inland Empire Music Awards!!! Check out www.ieweekly.com for the scoop! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Equally at home playing the world-famous Jazz Bakery in LA or in the underground Java the Hutt coffee shop at their alma mater (the University of Redlands), the widespread appeal for the music of The Deluge is just as diverse as the moods imparted by their tunes. Founded in 2004 by Andrew McKee (guitar) and Matthew O'Rane (viola) during their senior year in the music dept. at the U of R, their early songwriting was always characterized by elements of prog/rock-infused jazz propelled by latin and world rhythms in arrangements that were almost classical by way of thematicism. Since drummer Grant Jordan joined in the summer of '06, along with older brother Shane on bass in '07, the level of energy as well as accessibility in their live show has grown considerably. While always maintaining groove and feel as a priority, each instrument is still able to fulfill its own unique role within the music, while also providing rhythmic and melodic counterpoint to the others. The result is intense, and must be witnessed to be understood, putting the band in position to be the biggest thing in modern prog-rock since The Mars Volta. Keep your eyes and ears open for The Deluge, it's an experience unlike anything else.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"...It holds universal appeal, despite it's very non-universal genre. This seems to be because people understand they are witnessing something special at their shows..." - The Bulldog Weekly~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"...The name of the band echoes the long form and odd meters of their music, a 'great flood' or 'heavy downpour' of tonal colors..." - Redlands Daily Facts ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"...The band sounds to us like a combination of Dave Matthews and The Mahavishnu Orchestra of the 1970s. They are obviously talented musicians..." - Highland Community News ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"...The Deluge have been captivating audiences with their unique blend of jazz, rock, classical and world music influences. Their innovative compositions can be partially attributed to their instrumentation, often lending itself to highly structured odd-meter grooves, epic thematic material and heated improvisational passages..." - The Bullsheet Check out our shirt designs at Spreadshirt.com, clikc the link to buy one!!!
