LINDY DE COLOMBIA is known as the CIRQUE DU SOLEIL of DJs, a controversial artist breaking the stereotypes and boundaries associated with DJ performance. He combines his emotional, avant garde chill out ultra lounge style, with eccentric costuming, and Nine Inch Nails style stage antics to create an unparalleled atmosphere in any size venue where he performs. For most, being different is a curse. For him, its his ultimate blessing thats rapidly gaining him respect in the entertainment and music industries.
Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, South America, and growing up in Tampa, Florida, Lindy began attending all ages nightclubs at the age of 15. He made several mixes on equipment he purchased, and gave them to artistic coordinators STEVE McCLURE and DAVID CHRISTOPHERE (now known as DJ MONK and RABBIT IN THE MOON, co-founders of HALLUCINATION recordings). They offered him a residency at a local nightclub, DNA, doing 5-8 hour sets in a separate lounge area. With their assistance, he continued another late night residency in a 2,000 capacity nightclub, the MASQUERADE, at the historic Ritz Theatre in Ybor City, Florida. Little did he realize what he was about to do to the entire state of Florida. Lindy propelled his career in 1994 to a new level in Orlando, Florida by giving his mixes to KIMBALL COLLINS at the historic CLUB at FIRESTONE (locally called FIRESTONE). An area called the den in the 2,200 capacity club wasnt being used. Kimball listened and gave the mix to promoters, STACE BASS, JON MARSH, and BEVIN ONEILL, who gave Lindy a weekly residency and creative freedom. Since Orlando was Americas electronic dance music capital, he broke the rules by giving them something different. For 4 years, he accomplished one of the longest residencies at Firestone, decorating the den with a different weekly theme to prevent monotony. It was automatic to the locals, LINDY in the den, creating an alternate reality from 3am to noon every Saturday. Bevin loved it and had Lindy assist him with main room promotion. Legends invaded Firestone such as DANNY TENAGLIA, CARL COX, SASHA and DIGWEED, PAUL VAN DYK, and the CHEMICAL BROTHERS. He performed for festivals in Iceland, South America, and received reviews in URB magazine in 1996. In 1998, ROLLING STONE magazine called Firestone, the best nightclub in the country. Today, it is still the only US nightclub to ever receive that title in a mainstream music publication. Before there was South Beach there was Orlando, and a promoter from Miami named INGRID CASARES visited Firestone. Ingrid met Lindy and gave him a monthly residency on Sundays at her legendary Miami club, LIQUID. Many celebrities attended the Sundays including LENNY KRAVITZ and MADONNA. He also held quarterly residencies in Colombia at La Zona Franca in Bogotá, and Las Escolleras in Santa Marta. In 1999, he was sponsored to use VESTAX equipment at the Synergy 2 event at Miamis Winter Music Conference. His talent brought him to the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas, in 2004. He performed at MICHAEL FULLERS GODSPEED Monday Night, at the prestigious 8 million dollar FOUNDATION ROOM ultra lounge, on the 43rd floor roof of the MANDALAY BAY RESORT AND CASINO. Recently, a complete re-invention and crossover occurred in 2004. Thanks to promoter Alex Omes, Lindy broke the rules again by being the only avant garde DJ, in a 50,000 person all dance music festival in Miami called ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL. He was the only controversial DJ at Ultra 2005 to use acrobatic performers in his performance in the main amphitheatre, alongside international talent including: TIESTO, PAUL VAN DYK, and PAUL OAKENFOLD. Now in 2006, he headlined ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL on the main stage with artists the KILLERS, the PRODIGY, KEVENS, and HOT HOT HEAT. Continuing to play festivals and perform with rock artists allows him to achieve his focus reaching a newer, younger, mainstream audience and fan base that normally wouldnt have exposure to his style of music in the US. Presently, Lindy continues his production involving music, films, martial arts, and theatric productions including the upcoming SIN show (pronounced seen and means without in Spanish). SIN combines theatric acrobatic performances with an aerial DJ performance scoring the show. He has assisted in creating themes and performed at fashion shows and private events for clients including Versace and Dolce and Gabbana. His influences will be witnessed in forthcoming releases and tour dates. "In order to make sure people return, you have to give them the ultimate reason to return, which is escape. I never thought that film, audio, video, nightclub promotions, martial arts, and theatre performance were going to be my drugs and weapons of choice. I tried them and I got addicted to them. I havent been able to stop doing them, and hopefully I never will." LINDY DE COLOMBIA
