About Me

GUITAR LESSONS: From either Shred Durst or Doug Steele. You choose. Shred and Metal, beginners to intermediate. $35 a half hour, $50 an hour. We live near Hawthorn, Melbourne, Australia (insanely near the Glenferrie train station).
Learn: Warm up excercises, legato (left hand stuff), staccato (picking every note), tapping, phrasing, string skipping and sweep arpeggios, GOOD vibrato, single string technique, metal rhythm playing, all your standard burning solo and evil rhythm vibe.
Influences are Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, Jason Becker. Music theory thrown in there as well. Most students just want to learn technique. We're happy to show students whatever they want. If they're getting ahead of themselves, they'll be told.

BIO: California native John Sanders (aka Doug Steele, Shred Durst) has been living in Melbourne, Australia for nearly 13 years. He has 23 years guitar experience.
MUSIC: Guitarist for Flatstick, guitarist for Melbourne cover band Dr Nick, guitarist for Death Metallers Here I Die, drummer for Brothel. Past gigs include guitarist for San Jose Bay Area act Sinister Sam, as well as clinics for both Ibanez and Line 6 out in Melbourne, Australia. Co-founder of Guitar Fight Club.
RADIO/TV: 5 years at Austereo as Doug Steele (American Psycho) on both Triple M and 2 Day stations, TV spots include Channel V's Room 208, and commercial for Rock Eisteddfod Challenge.
DVD: Royal Doof 4 (guitarist for mechanism)
MC for various club/pub events and general jack ass, prank phone call king and general bad boy.
