george bush is an idiot.

About Me

once i had a haircut.
.. ..>
bringing the arabian pimp style drift
so before i tell you about me, i should say that that great photo of me and my dog and my cat in my picture section was taken by alan barton. you can visit alan barton's page here and his collective jesusland here .
now about me.
i am an artist who pays the bills by doing custom carpentry. i also dj occasionally 'cause i can't stand the music you get to hear at clubs around here. i get told that i'm not mainstream enough though, so i don't play out much. if you need something to put some stuff in, i can build you a really nice cabinet, but it'll cost you. if you wnat to shake your ass to experimental hip hop, intelligent d&b, and a random assortment of analog chaos, i'll bring over the turntables and drop some beats. i can guarantee you that there will be a bunch of trainwrecks and random stops in the set, but that you will really like the sounds unless your idea of good music is the shit they play on 95.7 jams or 107 the Q. sometimes i work outside in community gardens that my friend arnie is building / designing [check it out at http://www.arnoldsgarden.blogspot.com/]. otherwise, i walk the dog, play pool at the plaza, dig on some pizza and hella good brunch at cosmos or indulge in sushi at sakura. lately it seems that i have sold my soul to the bottletree . i also do some other stuff sometimes.
here's my logo bitches! ha..
here's a composite grid of the work i put in my last show: specimens series - 12 panels - each 19"x19" - laser transfer and wax on birch panel.

My Interests

art, music, turntables, analog soundwaves, interesting folks, banter, books, dogs, sideburns, ecclectic ass shizzle, insects, serial killers, food, cooking, eating, drinking

I'd like to meet:

george bush so i can smack him in his dumbass head; camille paglia 'cause she's nuts and fascinating at the same time; scott herendon 'cause prefuse is genius; sir david attenborough, 'cause he's a programming genius and his documentaries shaped my life as a kid and fed and stimulated my curiosity; jacques chirac just because; mahmoud abbas so i can get a better perspective on what is going on in the homeland.

Music:

.. ..> hip-hop, trip-hop, blip-hop, old time string bands, jazz, glam rock, shoegazer, house, garage, idm, opera, modern classical music, 80's metal, new wave, electro clash, old school country music, bossa nova, cubanismo, mexican disco, french hip-hop, cock rock .... this could go on and on.

Movies:

one flew over the cookoos nest and the shining have to rank right up there at the top, but then anything by the cohen brothers and the brothers quay, city of god, beautiful creatures, totoro, and anything by hayayo miyazaki - princess mononoke, spirit world, the big lobowski, fight club, crash, closer, lost in translation, the royal tannenbaums, igby goes down, traffic, harold and maude, the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, high fidelity, the boondock saints, damage, the unbearable liteness of being, texas chainsaw massacre, run ronnie run, pecker...., all kinds of kung foo, also kung faux, basquiat, john waters' crazy ass shizz, the cremaster cycle [if anyone has copies of the cremaster cycle, i wanna know about it], kirosawa, control room, farenheit 911, sometimes i like the action, i generally prefer the indies, i almost always like obscure stuff ... i'll add more if i feel like it.

Television:

i grew up on the young ones and david attenborough's incredible nature documentaries, also all of those old jacques cousteau documentaries, lost my interest in tv news when i moved to the u.s., so i have to admit that i often get sucked into really stupid t.v., but won't admit to most of it. i like the simpsons and king of the hill, and that's enough about that - suffice it to say that there is not much really worth watching on network t.v., and it makes no sense to pay a ton of money for cable. and what the fuck is up with american idol - is this really supposed to make us have hope in our society, or demoralise us by revealing the truly mundane aspirations of our people?

Books:

graham green, kurt vonnegut, salman rushdie, tim robbins, lots of stuff - i like satirical stuff, historical stuff, social commentary, books about art and artists and social trends and .... stuff. i have more books than i have shelf space, and i keep coming across books i didn't even know i have - it's good. i can't afford enough books to satisfy me, my friends threaten to disown me if i move again, 'cause it's too much stuff to carry around. someday i hope to have a space which functions as my library - it will be like heaven.

Heroes:

denise hausen, jacques cousteau, penut butter, danger mouse, conan o'brien, john stuart, yo' mamma

My Blog

stuff i found in an old notebook that describes my lack of faith in humanity

i find that in my exclusion from society, i often have time to hypothesize about social order and the de-evolution of mankind. driven by our myopic views of societal strata and structure and our misgu...

politic, politic - israel, lebanon, rupert murdoch, galloway

here's a rather refreshing incident from the world's news.  george galloway, british mp, speaks out against israels actions.  he is rather bullheaded, and i don't feel that his staunch appro...

on august 14th, a friend sent me a reply to one of my unabashedly (or shame-faced) political bulletins which was entitled "i have to keep shaking my head".  he obviously does not share my v...
