Jhenese L. Hester is a native of Orlando. Florida. Jhenese has been playing the drums for the past 17 years. Her passion for the drums started when she and her parent were active members of Malone Memorial Instutional Church of God in Christ. It was there her gift begin to emerge into what is now her life dream. Jhenese played the drums all through her middle school and high school days. She was the section lead in her high school marching band. As time progressed she became the church's main drummer. Her passion begin to become her reality, her focus turned from being a church drummer to a professional musician.
When Jhenese graduated from high school she enrolled into Middle Tennessee State University Record Industry major. There she begin to learn the fundamentals of drumming. Jhenese quickly developed a hunger to do more with her music. Driven to be the best she practice relentlessly and absorbed herself with and around music. Because of her tireless efforts she landed her first gig with Stella and Dove award winner Nicole C Mullen. Jhenese toured with Nicole playing at the Billy Graham Crusade for over 70,000 people. Traveling with Nicole C. Mullen allowed Jhenese to perfect her craft as well as her ability to learn and understand the business. Playing with Ms. Mullen's offered Jhenese countless opportunities to showcase her talents with other gospel artist such as Beverly Crawford, Dr. Bobby Jones, and RiZen just to name a few.
While playing with RiZen Jhenese worked with world renowned producer Sanchez Harley. RiZen was awarded best group of the year in 2004 with the Stella Awards. Jhenese also toured with them in the winter of 2004 to Italy. She was also one of the feature musicians on RiZen's live DVD recording. Because of this and other exposures she was able to sign drum endorsements with Sabian, Vater Percussion and DDrum.
Jhenese was featured in the Nashville Rage in Febuary 24, 2005 edition for session players and Modern Drummer September edition 2004. She's played at the New Orleans jazz festival and she played in Washington DC at the Black Family Reunion. Along with her busy schedule she has found time to open up her own studio in Orlando, Florida called Studio 806. And she started her own production company called Drummer Girl Productions. Jhenese "J. Latoiya" Hester is the one to be on the look out for she is truly a woman of purpose and passion. ..
