I'm on the edge of the yes

About Me

I'm unrealistic. I want everyone to be happy. I want to be a robot. I want to rock. I want you to want me.

My Interests

Playing guitar (or other instruments!), backpacking in the desert, running, pondering life's great mysteries. I spend quite a few (too many?) nights every week going out and talking to the people I meet. If you're interesting, I'm interested.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who can explain it all to me. Or explain part of it. Or convince me to stop analyzing it and looking for answers.

Music:

The more you love music, the more music you love...

OK, let's list a few anyway, in no particular order (I've GOTTA organize those CDs one of these days): Laurie Anderson, Smashing Pumpkins, Sparks, David Bowie, King Crimson, Bjork, Beck, Bunky, Blue Oyster Cult, Elliott Smith, Dresden Dolls, Foo Fighters, Sleeping People, Buena Vista Social Club, Todd Rundgren, Sleater-Kinney, REM, Suzanne Vega, Jet, Saint-Saens, Pinback, Alice Cooper, James Brown, Morphine, Radiohead, Julia Macklin, October Project, Ramones, Kiss, Be Bop Deluxe, They Might Be Giants, Ben Folds, Jefferson Airplane, Dave Brubeck, Patsy Cline, Etta James, The Libertines, Jon Brion, Elvis Costello, Muse, Junior Brown, X, Mozart, October Project, Beatles, Johnny Winter, Red Letter, The Prissteens, Kate Bush, Aleph Research, Rush, Television, Muddy Waters, Son Seals, Neil Young, Nerf Herder, The Wailers, Black Sabbath, Rimsky-Korsakov, Social Distortion, Goodbye Blue Monday, Hank Williams, Concrete Blonde, Magnetic Fields, Bach, Everly Brothers, The Doors, Robert Cray, Fugazi, Veruca Salt, The Rogers Sisters, Rasputina, Mary's Danish, Squirrels From Hell, Grand Ole Party, Flaming Lips, Matthew Sweet

Movies:

I love movies, but I don't really watch them over and over, so I'm not going to list them here. Well, at some point I might, but right now my whim says don't, so I won't.

Television:

I've now been without television (that is, no reception of any stations or cable--I do have a set for watching DVDs) for 2 years. You know what? I don't miss it at all.

Books:

A quick glance at the nearest shelves: Salmon Rushdie, Jorge Luis Borges, Italo Calvino, William Faulkner, Indira Ganesan, Rainer Maria Rillke, Maxine Hong Kingston's "Tripmaster Monkey", and all kinds of other fiction. The shelves in the other room have my nonfiction, including hiking guides to the desert and my old Psych, Math, and Physics texts.

Heroes:

If you can show me something that makes the world wonderful, you are my hero. If you can vanquish evil, you're just a spoilsport.

The wedding
