Rex has been a touring professional musician since 1976, although he started performing at the early age of 4. Born and raised in Memphis, TN., music has always been "second nature" and an important part of his life. Booker T. Jones became a mentor, friend and teacher, fostering in him a love for the soul of the Hammond Organ. After college in Colorado, a move to San Jose, California brought him into close contact with several professional touring acts from the Bay Area. "I remember when Huey Lewis and Tower of Power were playing the halftime show at a Golden State Warriors game, way before anyone outside of 'Frisco or the East Bay knew who they were". Since 1976, Rex has toured or recorded with a long list of names, including The Pointer Sisters, B.J. Thomas, Charlie Daniels, Stephen Stills, Stevie Nicks, Natalie Cole, Rita Coolidge, Jerry LaCroix(Edgar Winter, Rare Earth, B,S, &T), Chuck Rainey(Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross), Sam Moore(Sam & Dave), Robben Ford, Sammy Hagar, Ted Nugent, Point Blank, John Nitzinger, Stephen Tyler, Joe Perry, Ricky Lynn Gregg, Merle Haggard, Barry Beckett, Mickey Gilley, David Allen Coe & the CFH (RIP Dime)...... Since moving "home" to Texas, Rex has again found a niche. Currently the keyboardist and backup vocalist with Toby Keith's Easy Money Band, he has returned to his roots, performing nightly onstage with his B-3 and Yamaha digital keyboard. "Give me something honest, something that has soul, something kinda funky but, legitimate. For me, that's Piano and Organ. No pretenses, no modified Marimba patches......just meat and potatoes." Rex endorses YAMAHA Digital Keyboards, Muse Research and Westone/Martin Audiology in-ear monitors. Check out the new Sparkster CD and the Rebel Meets Rebel DVD from DAC and CFH.
