DJ Litespeid’s music venture began early on in life. First memories of listening to the Beach Boys escalated into thrashing to such bands as Pennywise, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Rancid, O.T.S., The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Tool while snowboarding in the mountains of Maine. DJ Litespeid moved to Florida permanently in 1997, where he continued with skateboarding.In 1997, after attending a Chemical Brothers live show, he took his first steps toward his music career by purchasing a set of Gemini PT500’s, a mixer and a few records. Quickly becoming an addiction, Litespeid wanted more and more records. Practicing day in and day out, always wanting more. Studying the roots of EDM culture, watching video footage of raves and overseas shows. Seeing the way the crowd reacted to the performances was like nothing He had ever seen before. Like when someone sees their first medical show and knows they’re going to be a doctor…DJ Litespeid instantly knew he was going to be a performer. Specifically, in the EDM genre. Anybody can play records, but a true DJ puts on a performance. That’s what he strives for.A few years into it, DJ Litespeid began producing tracks. He started off with Fruityloops in the year 2000, moving on to Sony AcidPro and other programs that open up a whole new world of sounds to him. That took his production to the next level. Building patterns and melodies, bringing tracks together with a comfortable flow…like second nature.Oficially starting J5 Productions in 2006, with a great group of DJ’s and producers, the label is on a sincere path to success. With the gain of so many friends in the indusrty, each bringing a different element to the table, Litespeid feels very fortunate to be involved with all of them. J5 Productions is now making the transition to being strictly a production label. With heart pounding, meaningful tracks…it is sure to succeed.Keeping his eye on the prize, and the music in his heart, DJ Litespeid keeps pressing on. There is no intention of calling it quits any time soon. J5 productions has a very long way to go in the eyes of DJ Litespeid. He won’t stop until he’s reached the ears of the whole world. It’s just that kind of drive that has taken him from the small venues he started at in Ocala, Fl to the numerous venues throughout the southeast portion of the United States. And it is what will eventually take him to the greatest venues across the globe.
