About Me

Not the Wolf consists of Paul Monk and Matiss Schubert playing fiddle, mandolin, guitars, trumpet and singing songs. 16 years of playing together has made them a formidable twosome on stage, a repertoire so deep and unpredictable they are often still surprised themselves... They're at a point where they really need to do some more recording, but the rock'n roll lifestyle keeps them flat out. New songs are sneakily being written whilst they're asleep (including some Latin - chorus in spanish of course)... Hopefully sometime soon they will lay down some more tracks.. Their styles range from Pop Yodeling through to Western Swing, Django Jazz to George Jones Country, Roots and blues, Johnny Cash, Celtic tunes of all descriptions and sometimes you might even feel Carlos Santana is hiding somewhere between the notes… A truly enjoyable duo to behold! A duo of Clint Eastwood style action music.... Go ahead, chew on some hay... it's Celtic and bluegrass, and Folk and Western... It's perfect for sucking on a cuban cigar.. Musically explosive Pop Yodeling duo, complete with mastercrafted fiddle tunes that'll turn your socks yellow....(cos you’ll piss yourself).. The lads have worked with numerous musicians and bands such as The Real Mckenzies(inspiration for bands like Drop Kick Murphys), Martin Hayes, Ade Kelly, McAlpine's Fusiliers, The Go Set and producers Fat Mike (NOFX), Rob Younger (Radio Birdman) and Lindsay Gravina (the living end) both seperately and as a non-stop heel poppin team.Only now, finally after years of various projects, travel and ball-and-chain wearing stints are they back together with a CD of their biggest and best compositions ready to make you say "get out of my house" to a couple of guys who are Not the Wolf.PS BOTH MATISS AND PAUL ARE AVAILABLE FOR GUITAR (AND FIDDLE LESSONS) IN GEELONG : )
