etikid, a Korean-Canadian emcee, creates original hip hop rooted rhymes while stayin true to his asian roots to release real music for hip hop heads to bump. Over the past year he has performed several times on the University of Alberta campus at several hiphop competitions and fundraisers. Steadily creating a buzz around the community, the release of his long awaited EP is planned for release in early 2006. etikid has gained support from other local artists in Edmonton, Canada, and even the United States. He provides a style and mixture of old school hip hop, refraining from unnecessary cursing and splicing in some of his asian roots.
Believing in the potential of the local hip hop scene in Edmonton, etikid has linked up with a member of the Deadly Compositions production crew, Deckstrous (D.A.T. Productions), to create a crew known as the Golden Elements. Other members and affiliates of the GE/DC crew are Dolomyte aka JEM, Zigga Zigz, Mythol OG, Lou Vega, and Khronical. etikid is presently in the studio putting together his first solo EP. The EP is to feature production from Deckstrous, DJ Black Dragon and Stress. There is no set date for the album yet.
Why this name?
I was listening to Jurassic 5- Quality Control one day and Zaakir says "...etiquitte". The way he said it made it stick in my head for like a week. After thinking about it, i thought of etikid basically puttin the two things I am together: lyrically correct, young emcee in the game.
