A broad spectrum of musical influences makes up the collective of “Movementzâ€, a group of 5 guys from the Midlands area of the UK. Members of the Movementz collective are Timmy Vegas, Leighton Ashcroft, Adam Turner, Kayum Abdul and Jamie Love. Each of these members is primarily known for their superb and varied DJing ability, covering a range of modern day electronic music. However, more recently the collective have also moved into the recording studio, where they are beginning to make themselves known for producing innovative and fresh sounding house music.
Movementz were acquaintances before they formed the collective, but decided to join forces around 2001, when they all became disillusioned with the music they were hearing and the scene that they were seeing in their surrounding area. Locally, music had become weak and predictable, and the scene tired and false.
The sum of Movementz is greater than its parts, with a vast musical knowledge between the members meaning the sounds that are produced are both modern, as well as drawing influence from the past. This blend of styles makes for an interesting but polished sound.
The collective have thus far produced a number of finished recordings, notably “29 Calls†released on Sonar Kollektiv to critical accliam. The track getting plays from the likes of Osunlade, Rocky and Diesel (X-Press 2), Tony Humphries, Ralph Lawson, Jimpster, DJ Deep, Gilles Peterson, Sven Vath and Satoshie Tomiie to name a few . The track is typical of the Movementz sound and what the collective is all about. Keep listening for further Movementz productions in the future, notably "The House of Ill Repute" on Universe Media with a remix from Demarkus Lewis, out now!
