The Ostar Lighting LED, which will be launched on the market this summer, can provide sufficient light for a desk from a height of two meters, for example. Its small size also enables the creation of completely new lamp shapes.A lumen (lm) is the unit of measurement for the amount of light emitted by a light source. A 60-watt light bulb emits 730 lm, while a 50-watt halogen lamp has an output of approximately 900 lm. To achieve the 1,000 lm output for the tiny Ostar Lighting LED, the experts at Siemens’ Osram subsidiary employed a sophisticated system for high chip-packing density, whereby the researchers managed to integrate six high-performance LED lighting chips into the unit’s small housing. Each chip has an area of only one square millimeter, which makes for very concentrated overall luminosity.Different types of LEDs are used today in various areas, for example as background lighting in cell phone displays, as well as in car turn-signal lights, brake lights, and daytime running lights. The benefits are obvious: The diodes are extremely small and consume little energy because they efficiently convert electricity into light. The Ostar Lighting LED, for example, produces 75 lumens per watt at 350 milli-amperes of operating current — much more than an incandescent lamp, which only converts a fraction of the electricity supplied into light, with the rest lost as heat energy. In addition, LEDs contain no lead or mercury, which makes them very environmentally friendly. They also last around ten times longer than halogen lamps and 50 times longer than incandescent lamps, thereby helping to significantly reduce maintenance costs.

The dumb shit from Philips that is lobbying congress to make incandescent light bulbs illegal and to use Philips fluorescent blubs instead. Oh yeah, there is poisonous mercury in those and they tend to blow up or not function at all. WTF is wrong with people??
Use L.E.D. lighting instead to conserve energy. Tell a friend.

Movies:

i love movies! well yeah but let me expand on that for a second. i love movies that are set in early 80's l.a. e.g. repo man, blue thunder, terminator... and then movies that are set in 70's new york. e.g. french connection, dog day afternoon, taking of pelham one two three, the hot rock, three days of the condor. the late 60's gave me some really cool things like easy rider, head, the magic christian, 2001. ok. that is it for now. maybe i'll add some more soon. WARREN OATES!

Television:

ah television. the opiate of the masses. i find it somewhat interesting sometimes, but for the most part, it is a huge waste of time. well. cable is nice. i'd like to have cable one day. ooooooh. or a satellite dish! that'd be cool!! ok since i just expanded my movies, let's do some t.v. these days t.v. pretty much sucks ass. there are the obvious choice shows, most on hbo. but back in the day. i loved mash, st elsewhere, even magnum p.i. and simon and simon. of course chips. not to mention some anime that were the cartoons of the day. all the g-force stuff. running home afterschool to watch star blazers. but that was in canada, have no idea if that stuff was in the u.s. oh jeeez almost forgot dr who! and dave allen. and then the crazy shows of the cbc you'd watch at the grandparents before the cfl game, like beachcomers. that show with john byner 'bizarre' had bob enstein , billy van and billy barty on it. brilliant!! jack duffy, the party game! SCTV!!!!

Books:

i love books! again i shall expand. i used to love books. douglas adams, bradbury. then i managed a book store. books freak me out now. but i do like the non fiction. year with swollen apendicies, a massive swelling. hmmm. pattern? fear and loathing....
