GENGHISCreated in June 2002, this collective of composers and arrangers specialized in Urban music called GENGHIS has been considerably expanding for the last months.
The team decided to isolate themselves for a substantial lapse of time in order to work over the project of creating a whole range suiting any artist from the International HipHop stage.
GENGHIS is constituted of four sound producers, each having about many years Experience either as a lyricist and performer or composer. First and foremost it is the meeting of four independant artists who had the project to create a new label in order to promote a new generation of artists surrounding them or coming from the same suburb. What they aim is their very own contribution to the French musical background giving it a new "color". Functioning as a label, each member has a well defined role to play in the achieving of projects.
Its goal, as many other independant labels, is to produce artists who have had a hard time, who posses a real talent and who need recognition. In order to reach this, one must work twice as hard as competitors and never give up.
GENGHISs leitmotiv is simple: Simplicity + originality = effeciency.From the artistic point of view, GENGHIS offers the particularity of offering a
multiplicity of productions with several composers, all different but
complementary, able to adapt themselves to demand. Their ways to work are
different but very interwoven. GENGHIS is target audience is the real
Connoisseur and fan of HIP HOP music. They strictly refuse being categorized.

GENGHIS DRK from GENGHISFormer rapper from the group THC. (TENSION HARDCORE), we can undoubtedly say that GENGHIS DRK is a valuable member of the HIP HOP of our hexagon.
At the beginning of the 90s this young artist started out as rapper and composer for several HIP HOP groups.
He worked quite a lot in associations and local cultural groups but realized that his ambtions would not be achieved in social or cultural frames As for his lyrics, the term " hardcore " defines him rather well : for him, " being hardcore is being authentic. Being the best means for an artist to develop his ideas on music ". For him, HIP HOP is a music which is " revolutionary because it puts down all the norms and barriers that music had up to now while keeping its more festive aspect, melancholy and commitment. "

Moreover, HIP HOP arrived just at the right time " when numerical technique is booming, allowing to compose good stuff without solfing. "DRK who is now 26, is convinced that " nothing is created, nothing is lost, everything is transformed " which is to say that his music does not generate from new sonorities but springs from traditional instruments, metamorphoses into new sound colors, unique in France.
One can feel the influences of America, Jamaica, Africa and even Asia in his productions. Sampling mixed with real instruments is what gives the knack to his music.
After having worked underground for French HIP HOP for years, he is now slowly coming into the light, doing a lot of hard work in the GENGHIS STUDIOS with his colleagues, never following fashion but only the right direction.
