About Me

Deadsunrising were formed in West Bromwich around the end of the twentieth century. Drunk (guitar/then-vocals), Chris (bass) and Alex (drums) had played together for a few years in Creep before recruiting Labran (guitar) to bolster the lineup and sound, and with this the band were to be known as deadsunrising.
DSR concentrated on writing what was essentially a whole new set of tracks with with to take on the local live circuit. Shows were played and a demo, 'Next In Line To Burn' was recorded with Mick Kenney at Necrodeath studios.
More shows were played, and by this stage the band had recruited Warner on lead vocals, giving DSR yet another dimension, and after another break to write and rehearse, live shows were booked. By this stage the bands live performances were causing ripples of excitement within the then-conservative Birmingham scene, before again heading to Necrodeath to record the songs that would end up on the Deadsunrising / Solway Fifth split CD (Speedowax Records)
By now, yet another member was deemed necessary, and Russ (vocals) joined the DSR ranks, the only non-West Brom native to ever have been in the band. With this addition, DSR went from being a reputable live act to a explosively unpredictable one. Members fought with each other, tables were straddled or leapt off, costumes were worn, sometimes clothes were deemed unnecessary, and lots of beer was spilt. At this time two tracks were recorded at Necrodeath for yet another demo.
At this stage DSR were taking on board inspiration from well outside of the metal / hardcore spectrum - influences of a much more melodic and fragile nature were now nestling against the off-kilter time signatures and broken riffs. As such, yet ANOTHER member joined the fray, Baker (Guitar/keyboard). A headlining gig at the Flapper & Firkin with Beecher saw one of only two shows with this six-piece line-up, and one that has gone down in history with a lot of people present. Soon after was a slot at the inagural SuperSonic festival in Birmingham. This was to be the final deadsunrising show with the full lineup, as shortly after, Drunk decided that the DSR of that time was too far removed from that which he had previously enjoyed, and decided to leave the band.
Deadsunrising continued to progress, and collated a collection of songs that were to comprise an abums worth of material, before Warner decided to leave the band. Unperturbed, DSR carried on with Russ on sole vocal duties and continued to play with acts such as Pelican and D-Rail before recording what was to be known as the DeStRoy EP. this was never to be released, as at the end of 2004, the remaining members decided to split deadsun.
A triumphant farewell show took place at the Flapper & Firkin, and as of today, nearly all members are still involved with bands. Drunk has Mistress (Earache Records), Baker has his D.Louis Baker & Friends project, as well as appearing as part of Chinook & The Charged Particles. Alex drums for both D.L.B & Friends and plays alongside Labran in Formation Flight. Warner lays bass in Noise Noise Allore, whilst Russ plays bass in Knives. That said it is a testament to DSR, that to many people, deadsunrising were their favourite band out of the lot of them.
