Death is so beautiful

About Me

Sugarpuss fermented in the deadly dawn of 1999 out of disgust for the less-than-serious regard reserved for girl bands and a desire to show the masses that sweet does not necessarily equal meek. Sugarpuss' cranium-throbbing, nerve-breaking sound design quickly attracted a population of worshippers who sought a regular dose of the band's bad ass medicine. The trio formed when Lisa and Pat met Dora through an LA Weekly ad. Dora's raw edgy guitar blended with Pat's precise beats and Lisa's mysterious vocals like a perfect scotch and soda on the rocks. Sugarpuss has since played throughout Southern California at such clubs as The Whisky A-Go-Go, The Smell and The Knitting Factory to name a few. Over time the chemical contamination of LA water mutated Sugarpuss into a more primal, vulgar and caustic sound that commands the attention of music lovers seeking an outlet for aggression. This evolved, multifaceted, rough sound has added a new group of fans to Sugarpuss' already wide fan base.
"There hasn't been a high-profile all-female outfit to challenge the scads of cock-thrusting all-guy bands that now saturate the rock-music market. Those who like their music with a side of aggressive estrogen, however, can revel in the release of the debut CD from Los Angeles rockers Sugarpuss, a three-piece band whose penchant for screeching guitars, thundering drums, and screamed vocals puts them firmly in the camp of acts like Black Flag, Queens of the Stone Age, and L7." —Ken Knox, Frontiers News Magazine, November 2003
After five awesome years, three tours, eight states and countless hours of great times Sugarpuss has gone "Into The Grave." We would like to thank everyone who have been there and supported us through out these fun years. Wanna keep up and see what we are up to?
