TAN, the name means – the dawning light – stands for the analogy, for the beginning and the birth of a new musical discovery. From the numerous musical resources, TAN is able compose an exciting repertoire bringing many musical cultures together.TAN was founded by the turkish singer and musician Ergün Aktoprak at the beginning of 2000. The motivation was to search for another musical form which expressed unusual ideas in the context of turkish roots-music.Experienced and highly skilful musicians from various musical backgrounds, i.e. Worldmusic, Jazz, Rock etc. were brought together for this exciting musical challange. Together with their own compositions, the band plays authentic turkish roots-music, unusual rhythms and earthy melodies with western influences which have been inspired by the songs and dances from the different regions of Anatolia.TAN breaks through the musical boundaries with new dimensions of sound moulded in a new musical form. In their concerts TAN provides an excellent colourful and lively programme resulting in spontaneous musical dialogues.
