About Me

Songs that make you think.
Brian Mazzaferri, self-styled Singer/Songwriter/Philosopher, works tirelessly to write, record, and perform about the eternal WHY. His music has been described as the mutant offspring of Ben Kweller and Joni Mitchell, with a dash of Sondheim thrown in for good measure.
Brian spent much of the past 9 months being the front man and primary songwriter for the band Red Line District, receiving rave reviews for their showings at prestigious Chicago venues such as The Double Door, Elbo Room, and Beat Kitchen, moving 1000 copies of their first single, and placing 7th out of over 1000 bands in the 2007 Lollapalooza Last Band Standing competition.
Now, he has begun his solo career in earnest, as his debut LP, "All Roads Lead To Roads," is slated for release this October on Sophic Records and his touring schedule for the fall has begun to fill rapidly.
Through all of it, though, Brian continues to write, record, and play at a furious pace, committed to building an audience for music that moves the mind:
Songs that make you think.

Dancability vs. Thinkability

It struck me, while listening to the new Maroon 5 song on the radio, that there is a big dichotomy between a desire for danceable (read: turn-your-mind-off) music, and a desire for meaningfu...
