VIDEO CLIP FROM BRAMPTON LIVE
'I've been writing songs since I was a child, long before I tried my hand at any instrument, I use my guitar as a means for writing. I don't choose to write songs they just kind of appear from a cave somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain and won't let up until I make them tangible, I usually only like them while they are fresh. When a new song emerges I sometimes feel euphoric, it's as though something somewhere is telling the demons to leave me the fuck alone and that's always good even if it does involve tears and anger. I enjoy writing, recording and performing with other people because it's always beneficial to share ideas and I like to focus on my vocals after the song has been written. Words are an important aspect of my songs perhaps they are my biggest strength, even if they are recorded on the spot and written down afterwards there is always a piece of me or my subconscious coming through. Sometimes the words are so honest and self exposing I find it uncomfortable listening back to them.'
I don't try to emulate anyone's singing style because that would take away from the realness of what I do but the following is a list of vocalists who I admire and have no doubt influenced me in various ways; Stevie Nicks, Debbie Harry, David Byrne, Grace Slick, Tori Amos, Patti Smith, Thom Yorke, Sinead O’Connor, Morrissey, Brett Anderson, Elkie Brookes, Freddy Mercury, Ella Fitzgerald, Fiona Apple, Dolores O’Riordan, Smokey Robinson, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, oh and that bloke from Tight Fit ha

MATT:
This is what i'd call my 'serious' music outlet.
Have played in local bands since i was but wee (Shirley's Temple, Monkey 500 and most recently Fireflies, to name but a few). Within this project, i hope to find the space and freedom to express myself without constraint. Phew, almost got serious there.
My golden rule is 'never imitate your heroes'. This can only produce a second rate imitation. As such, although my musical heroes include Hendrix, Page and Akkerman, you will probaly hear little of this in our music.
Besides, when i solo on into the night, Julia gives me the evil eye...
Davey:
I KNEW a simple soldier boy
Who grinned at life in empty joy,
Slept soundly through the lonesome dark,
And whistled early with the lark.
In winter trenches, cowed and glum,
With crumps and lice and lack of rum,
He put a bullet through his brain.
No one spoke of him again.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by,
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go.
I'm also a huge fan of 'Location, Location, Location.'
