The Brickyard is Carlisle's premier and only full time live music venue and has hosted some of the biggest names in music today. We are a not for profit corporation dedicated to furthering the cause of Musicians who write and perform their own music…
Pass along this small tribute, copy this code.
We are ideally situated only nine miles south of the Scottish border, and an ideal stepping stone venue for any act on the way to, or from Scotland being ideally situated between Manchester and Glasgow or Edinburgh.
In the summer of 2002, The Brickyard was born out of a desire to revitalise Carlisle's flagging live music scene, which at that time depended upon tribute acts, the occasional local band gigging in local pubs and a few sporadic gigs aimed at an ageing audience.
On New Years Eve 2002, Andy McCormack and Garry Kerr opened the doors for the first gig...
We cater for a wide variety of musical tastes, we promote a wide range of bands and Dj's from Folk through Heavy Metal, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Drum 'n' Bass and Hip Hop.
As the only venue of it's kind in Carlisle, and we are definitely unique in Cumbria if not the North of England in that we only promote local and touring "ORIGINAL ARTISTS", we prefer "NEW MUSIC".
WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON OUR NO NONSENSE REAL MUSIC POLICY!
We also have an in house Recording Studio which offers both studio and live recording services at good rates. Whatever the situation we aim to provide the experience and effort that will help acheive the best recording possible for the band/artist.
Studio Recording
A large live room and 16 simultaneous input channels allows for the tracking of full groups live without the need for excessive overdubbing. The control room is also a good size, easily seating/slumping a band.
Live recording
A 16 channel multicore cable running from the venues FOH mixer to the studio allows multitrack recording of any gig at the Brickyard. Mixing and editing of the material can then be carried out after the event.
