Nothing better than chilling out with a Magners and a buddy or two. Or listening to some tunes. Or eating a curry that makes your eyes water. Got a burning desire to do a lap in a formula one car...don't see it happening anytime soon. Big fan of travelling too.
Ok, don't know how much clearer I can be about this. NO SLAVES and stuff, just peeps who want to say hey AND NOT (REALLY TRY HARD TO READ THIS BIT AND ABSORB THE INFORMATION OH PEOPLE-WHO-WANT-TO-DO-WEIRD-THINGS.....) people who want to say hey, and have me spit on them at the same time. No tramplers, slaves, spitters, hair pullers etc etc. Eeww. And no offence to the peeps who said hey and then requested all of the above! Just not my bag dudes. Hmmm, lets include ego maniacs, narcissists, people who spit in the street, the cruel, the nasty and the vindictive.... Just about covers it methinks-hang on, this was meant to be about people i would actually like to meet.... hmmm, cheery, music-loving (although I will vet your taste, beware), happy-go-lucky peeps who can keep me grounded when i am not of this planet, and who can take me away from it all when i am too aware of it all. Aliens welcome. Anyone, like I said, just re-read the list above. Kay, sorted.
Aereogramme (RIP-legends that deserve a place in history for being one of the most amazing and inspirational musicians to ever grace the ears of those lucky enough to hear them-I have just read the announcement that they have split and I cannot believe it. Go listen.), And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Arcade Fire, At The Drive In, Ben Folds, Biffy Clyro (probably an unhealthy amount-but if you are a virgin, start with the early stuff and work chronologically-Puzzle is not essence of Biffy, sadly), Bloc Party, Bright Eyes, Jeff Buckley, Counting Crows, Dashboard Confessional, Desaparecidos (like, stupidly much), Eels, Elliot, Explosions in the Sky (genius), Finch, Foo Fighters, Further Seems Forever, Ned Goodwin, Hell is for Heroes, Hundred Reasons, Jet Plane Landing, KiDDO, Laeto, Marmaduke Duke, Mew, Million Dead, Modest Mouse, Placebo, Peep Show, Prince (No, really), Red Star Rebels, Reuben, Snow Patrol, Small Brown Bike, Smashing Pumpkins, Sparta (kitten number 2's namesake), Sucioperro, Taking Back Sunday, The Afghan Whigs, The Mars Volta, Yourcodenameis:milo (my cats namesake, they are so fab lol)...to name a few faves, far too many to mention.
Memento is my all time fave and the Butterfly Effect was pretty good. Cable Guy and Office Space will always get me giggling. Anything with Owen Wilson in is alright by me. I just watched March of the Penguins-what an amazing movie. It may well have illicited a tear, and even a sob or two, but it was the loveliest thing I have seen in ages (and I was forced to drive straight to Edinburgh zoo after just to look at them-even though I do not approve of zoos as a rule, and seeing the poor bored lions and monkeys was probably as sad as the film in the first place). Still, you should watch it. Oh, and I nearly forgot Big Fish. Ewan MacGregor, mmmmm, yes please, but also just an amazing film.
BB-I can't help it, especially since this years one is setting out to be pretty hilarious so far. Oooh, girls are just so mean! The IT Crowd is pant-wetting stuff as well. So is Catterick with Vic and Bob-quality... Just finished watching the first series of Extras with Ricky Gervais-I don't think I have laughed so much in all my days-what a genius. Hmmm, should prob update a little,or add to at least...for some reason I find myself watching late night Scrubs (amusing), Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps (British amusing), I really want to say all kinds of intelligent documentaries and stuff, but to be honest, i'd rather just watch comedy-stand-up preferably (Lee Evans, there have been many tears of laughter shed). And I don't care who scorns, Friends has been with me for a decade and more, and I can still watch it. Anyhoo, far too much time devoted to this TV section malarky, I'd rather be at a gig with a pint.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time-if you haven't read it, get it done. And Catcher in the Rye, best book of all time. And there was one book by Stephen King, a really old one about wizards and magicians and stuff that was totally fab, but I can't remember what it was called...IT was pretty good too mind you. One to look out for but beware because it will make you so sad and angry (but ultimately hopeful) is Ugly. How people can do that to their children I will never know. Shakespeare's Sonnets (They are actually a story you know...)
I'm sure the idea is to say something like Mother Theresa but I'm sticking with Biffy. And Billy Connolly, what a legend. Derren Brown is fast making his way onto this list. Is it wrong to want to be alone in a room with him and let him warp my mind? Or unwarp it s the case may be....
