About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
I'm tired of my 'official' bio, so here's the Reader's Digest version:
I grew up in Virginia and moved to Austin in 1990, after serving four years as a journalist in the Army. I've had the extreme pleasure and honor to play here with some of the best musicians on the planet. Some folks whom I really respect have recorded songs that I've written. I play classic country music, old and new, in some of the friendliest honkytonks in the world. I like to surround myself with talented people who make me laugh. I draw portraits. I am loyal, sentimental, and punctual. I love to travel, dance, camp out, and spend quality time with my kitty cat. I've been working on a CD which I'm hoping to release later in the year. I think I'll call it "Kitchen Radio", which is what I grew up on.
So that's me. Anything else you want to know, you'll have to ask me yourself.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: terijoyce.com
Band Members: My band is the Tagalongs, and that means whomever's taggin' along! But that's the Austin way, baby, and you can bet it'll always be good. I'm doing my darndest to beat the odds and have a 'real' band. We've had a pretty regular and fabulous rhythm section lately, featuring Jon Lewis on drums and Karen 'LaBlonde' Hein on bass. When I'm lucky enough, I get one of the Jims on guitar -- Jim Stringer or Jim Lutz, that is. Does this town have talent, or what? Sure would love to have a regular pedal steel player -- any takers? And every chance I get I have Roger Wallace on board for duets, towering charisma, and general shenanigans.
Influences: Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Dolly Parton (stop me if you've heard this already), Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Tanya Tucker, Rose Maddox, Bonnie Owens, Kay Adams, Dottie West, Donna Fargo, Linda Ronstadt, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Wills, Hank Thompson, Johhny Horton, Buck Owens, Libbi Bosworth, Elvis Presley, the Carter Family. Songwriters: Cindy Walker, Liz Anderson, Nanci Griffith, John Denver (yeah, I said it), Bill Anderson, Roger Miller, Willie Nelson, Don Gibson, Mel Tillis, Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Overstreet, all the Brill Building geniuses, Irving Berlin, Dorothy Fields, Johnny Mercer, those Gershwin boys, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, John Steinbeck (all he lacked was a melody). And anything that ever happened on a 70s variety show.
Sounds Like: Sounds like I need to finish my record, doesn't it?

Nature and stuff...

Nothing earth-shattering here.  Just wish I was CAMPING or HIKING or ANYTHING but stuck in this ever-more-strangling city.  I mean, there's more to life than honkytonks, right?  Right??...

You Don't Know Me
