Rhythm of Blues

Howard Werth & The Moonbeams/Rhythm of Blues

About Me

“Jimi never listened to rock, he listened to the Rhythm of Blues” (Jimi Hendrix’s father in the film “Band of Gypsies”). Band History and Biography. Rhythm of Blues are a bunch of fine musicians from UK, each with a great history and endless energy and enthusiasm to create fine music. For four years the band has toured with world top musicians, The Carl Verheyen Band, (Supertramp, David Gilmour, Frank Zappa, Ray Charles, Neil Young, Dave Crosby, Stanley Clarke, Stuart Copeland, Max Roach, Brian Setzer’s Orchestra & many, more)!! This has enabled all involved to revisit their friendships and indulge in a period of time where some stunning music has been created. Classic Rock Magazine readers voted the Carl Verheyen Band / Rhythm of Blues show at The Classic Rock Society show in Rotherham, UK, best show of 2003, praise indeed. Musically, the band lies in that ground between Floyd and classic British rock acts like Wishbone Ash, drawing on the spirit of Hendrix and SRV to create a powerful experience. The energy created on stage is still awe inspiring and draws on many years of passion and friendship between band members. The band and individual members have worked with or supported a great diversity of acts in their time including: Hawkwind, Bad Manners, Letz Zep, Immaculate Fools, Henry McCullough, (Wings, Grease Band, Joe Cocker, Jesus Christ Superstar), Steve Marriot, (supported at the famous Dingwalls BBC recording of 1984), Paul Roland, Winston & The Churchills, Max Splodges Brass Revue!!, Carl Verheyen, Wishbone Ash, Carvin Jones, and Jeff Beck! Some of RoB even played a private gig for DARTH VADAR!!!! RoB are now working with Howard Werth, (Audience/The Doors) and shall be hitting the road with this immense talent for 08. New CD being recorded over the winter. This band has paid their dues many times over, its now time to pay them. Moving On is available on Red Admiral Records: www.redadmiralrecords.com Stop Press The new CD, "Unsung Heroes" is currently being reviewed and we are very proud to announce it's immenent release via East Central One, www.eastcentralone.com. Download from i Tunes. It is receiving some amazing comments from some very well known artistes who shall remain nameless as we are not in the business of using people in that way. We should like you to read some of the comments though: "If I were a music journalist I'd call it 'A lovingly crafted celebration of British Blues'. I say celebration because while the influences of Knopfler, Beck, Clapton et al are ever present there is never a hint of pastiche or plagiarism." Music has arrived and it is really great. I will be playing bunches of your stuff. I am keeping cd in the hot box so our Sunday night show will be able to dig it as well. "The CD sounds great, a big improvement over the last one and a great overall sound. The band has gelled and your (guitar) tones are awesome! The band has come a long way and your hard work has paid off!" "I think there is some nice guitar work --cool tone --good playing---I want to say again that I think there is some really nice guitar work here."

Howard is the voice and guitar from the cult Charisma band, Audience. Howard was produced by Gus Dudgeon, was headhunted to replace Jim Morrison in the Doors, has supported Floyd and Zep and been supported on many occasions by Genesis!!! This is REAL music history....find out more on www.luminousmusic.co.ukAndy Young (Guitar/Vocals) Andy is a technician of the Fender Strat and is both a player and teacher. Through his friendship with Carl Verheyen, The Rhythm of Blues has completed three UK tours with The Carl Verheyen Band (Supertramp). Andy is a session player and has worked with World Tree, Paul Roland, Max Splodges Brass revue, Henry McCullough, (Wings), Winston & The Churchills, Third Mind Records, New Rose records, Imaginary Records, Cold Harbour Records and many others. He has credits on many recordings. Andy also had a role in the development of the Motherload Speaker Emulator which has and is used by many world class musicians including Gary Moore, Aerosmith, Korn, Cradle of Filth and Joe Satriani. Mick Brett (Bass/Vocals) Mick & Andy have been friends and song writing partners for many years. Mick goes back to the birth of the UK blues scene in London and is still going strong. One of Mick’s finest hours was playing bass for none other than Jeff Beck at an impromptu show and played “Hi Ho Silver Lining”. When Mick isn’t touring with the band, he is relaxing at his home on the beautiful Isle of Eigg, Western Isles, Scotland. A major songwriter and creative force in the band.Simon Jeffrey, (Drums/Jokes)Simon started his drum life sat behind Stewart Copeland on tour with the Police in the USA as a young man. Inspired by this experience, he thankfully decided to be a drummer. Simon and Andy worked together in another life with Winston Forbes from Splodgenessabounds, (no. 1 hit with “2 Pints of lager & a Packet of Crisps Please”)! as well as session work together over this period. Simon is a very fine drummer who is in much demand and who has also worked with Bernie Torme (Ozzy Osborne’s Blizzard of Ozz) among many others like Paddy Goes To Hollyhead!. Simon is also the powerhouse behind Letz Zep, Europe's premier Zeppelin tribute. A great technician and session player whose first love is touring and creating fine music. An enormous input to the Rhythm of Blues arrangement and production team. Phil Martin, (Keyboards) Phil is an incredibly talented player who also runs his own studio when not playing or teaching. His keyboards are fundamental to the sound of the band and Phil is a founder member along with Andy. Recording engineer, producer, keyboard player, drummer, sax player, bass and lead player, you name it! A great guy who learns songs before he’s been shown them!!!
