Russ Holborough is a Mixmaster entrepreneur whose genre busting twist on DJing is so diverse he has had to morph into a few different alter egos to truly express himself. From flamboyant DJ Clemente from the legendary Cuban Brothers to the so retro its the future genius of Different Strokes, Russ is fast becoming renowned for his fun fuelled take on mixology.
Different Strokes was created to cater for Russs penchant for classic old school flavours with a new school twist - From hip hop, electro, funk, soul, pop and rock the music goes in different directions all the time to keep the expected truly unexpected! Cutting the music up with TV themes, accapellas, live samples and DIY bootlegs ensures the Different Strokes sound is as fresh as comes!
Russ has been rocking clubs with his inimitable style for over 18 years. From his incarnation of Clemente Rodriguez, star DJ of The Cuban Brothers to the new tour de force Different Strokes Russ guarantees an eccentric and eclectic take on partying.
Over the last few years Russ has sent the crowd into a future disco frenzy with his unique blend of bad boy Hip Hop, Latin beats, twisted funk, credible pop and funky underground house sets that have turned heads, in both his Cubano alter ego and as the increasingly recognizable Different Strokes.
He has stormed the most diverse events, from David Beckhams "Full Length and Fabulous", private parties for Robbie Williams and Richard Branson, to some of the U.Ks finest festivals: Bestival, V, Glastonbury etc to Snowbombing and MTV parties blowing away the crowd as well as the DJ fraternity with his ability to tear up even the most discerning of dance floors.
From the moment he knocked the socks off Fatboy Slim when they played together at the 2001 Muzik Magazine Awards, Fatboy has been one of his biggest fans and set mates in top club events ranging from Lush! to Manumission and the Radio 1 stage at Glastonbury 2002/3/4 and has named him as one of his favourite party DJs.
Russ has always kept good company in the club scene, prior to his Cuban days he was a Sancho Panza resident playing with Sasha amongst many others. He also provided party tunes for some of the biggest live acts at the award winning Embassy Rooms supporting the likes of Macy Gray and The Sugarhill Gang.
Prior to that the intrepid music lover tore it up on the underground circuit for years in Brighton, think early Zap and Escape as well as the more edgy Tonka and Black Rock parties.
And it all started back in Birmingham in the 80s. Inspired by Electro and Rare Groove the master craftsmen (he is after all a carpenter of the highest order), applied his acute timing and passion for perfection to the world of music. Now his musical journey is taking him all over the world from summer seasons in Ibiza to the Swiss and French Alps for events like the British Snowboarding Championships to the USAs finest road show, the Gumball Rally.
