The Golden Glows

About Me

The Golden Glows is an acoustic three piece, keen on long gone melodies, with a strong focus on vocal harmonies. We live in Antwerp, that's the Royal Kingdom of Belgium, a tiny triangle in the centre of the European continent.
The band made its live debut in 2005 with "A Songbook From the 20’s", a two-hour show with popular American tunes from the 1920’s: a collection of forgotten radio hits, torch songs, musical numbers, early jazz, country blues, gospel and folk traditionals. An EP with nine highlights of the songbook was released in the summer of 2007.
"A Folksongbook" was released in december of the same year. The Golden Glows' second EP features 15 guest musicians and offers a glowing blend of English & Irish folk traditionals, Victorian poems and 19th Century ballads. The Folksongbook is performed live with an additional golden horn (Jon Birdsong) and a glorious glowing cello (Charlotte Dafni Vavourakis).
Four other Songbooks are carefully prepared and assembled in The Golden Glows' laboratory, as we speak. Release dates to be confirmed on this page.
"A Folksongbook behaagt, zoals een haardvuur kan behagen. Je wiegt onwillekeurig mee en voelt je als in een sprookje"

"Een gloedvolle luisterplaat die potten en af en toe ons hart weet te breken"

"Zeer ambitieus, maar zeker geslaagd in hun opzet"
