Born and raised in Queens, NY, I began to play guitar at the age of 12. By 14 I switched to double bass after being accepted to NY's specialized high school for the arts( LaGuarda H.S. for the Performing Arts). In this school I was exposed to great musicians like Luis Pereira, Kevin Ceballo, Carlos Henriquez and many more. While in school I recieved various scholarships to further my music studies in schools like Harlem School of the Arts(for Jazz) and the Habor Conservatory of Music(for Latin music). During these high school years I also started taking lessons with the Late great Victor Venegas(who became a father to my musicial growth) who's skill and knowledge of this instrument can only be matched by the size of his heart. (RIP Vic, we all miss you POPS)I would like to take some time to thank the bass players who have influenced, inspired and encouraged my musicial journey: VICTOR VENEGAS, RUBEN RODRIGUEZ,JOSE TABARES, CARLOS HENRIQUEZ and JERRY MADERA.(all of which I know personally)As for those I have not had the pleasure of meeting: JACO, RAY BROWN, MARCUS MILLER, STANLEY CLARKE, LARRY GRAHAM, VICTOR WOOTEN, JAMES JAMERSON, SAL CUEVAS, BOBBY RODRIGUEZ, PAUL CHAMBERS, RUFUS REID, JOHN PATITUCCI, JOHNNY TORRES, ISREAL "CACHAO" LOPEZ, OTIEL BURBRIDGE, RON CARTER and many many more
