Midas got hooked to the turntables at the tender age of 15 after a near fatal heart surgery made it impossible to continue playing basketball as a pass-time. At 16 he had already played at some of Montreal's biggest nightspots including The Metropolis, Spectrum, The Medley, Tokyo Bar, Club Soda, Sona, etc to name a few.
At 18 he branched off into production and mixtapes. By 19 he had released an intro track with legendary DJ Tony Touch for Madd Records' 2003 compilation "Tha Jungle" which pressed up 40,000 copies across the U.S. and Canada.
At the age of 23 with a collegial degree in Music Business Administration, and another in Audio Engineering, he currently works out of his home studio producing beats, mixtapes, and holds down various residencies for clubs and special events. He is involved in the new 12"Spinners DJ team, consisting of 5 DJ's: Mana, Killa-Jewel, Praiz and Panda-Zal.
In addition Midas is currently working in a band project lead by Dj Mana called Microtone Kitchen, a new concept of turntable orchestration that revolutionizes the way the turtable is looked at as an instrument. The turntable is accompanied by live instruments such as the keys, acoustic/electric guitar, and live bass. You can find their work on www.myspace.com/microtonekitchen. Members of Microtone Kitchen include Mana, Killa Jewel, Praiz, Midas, Panda-Zal, Know1 (keys/guitar), and Sir-bastard (bass).
