About Me

MauRece De'Shaun-Louis was born to somewhat of a musically inclined family. His Grandmother, Aunt, and Great-Grandmother were all singers in their own right. Coming from a family of singers and preachers, it was inevitable that the gift would fall on MauRece. MauRece began directing the choir at the age of 12, being the youngest person in the church to ever have done that. Growing up traditional Baptist, traditional music has always been etched deep in his heart. He may be young in age, but his spirit outlives him. MauRece didn't realize until he joined the church choir how much he enjoyed singing. Of course he's always sang around the house as a child, but it wasn't until he entered the choir...even though when asked to solo's or leads, he'd quietly shy away. His confidence hadn't yet reached the level of security in which was needed to exercise his God-given gift. MauRece furthered his singing and training when entering the high school's gospel choir, where he ended up becoming the student director his Jr. and Sr. year. There he was trained and lead by a present-day legend Mr. Kevon Carter (Tyscot Records). MauRece says, "Sitting under Kevon was one of the best things I could've ever done. He is a musical genius in his very own right and I was glad to be under his musical tutelage."
MauRece credits some of his vocal influences to be 'church folks,' stating that, "the absolute best voices comes from the church." The Legendary Clark Sisters of Detroit, Michigan are his all-time favorite group. "They are musical geniuses and vocal connoisseurs. These 4 women from Detroit puts mostly all of these new-aged singers to SHAME. Plus, each and every one of them have a special testimony that's bound to make you go into a SHABACH praise!" Besides them, Donald Lawrence, Hezekiah Walker, Ricky Dillard, VaShawn Mitchell, Tiffany McGhee, and a plethra of others are of his musical influences as well.
Always having a special love for the Lord's house, MauRece currently serves as a worship leader on the praise and worship team at Free Spirit Mininsterial Worship Center (South Holland, IL.) under Pastor Timothy Byron McGhee. "Since I've been here, there has been a major change in my life. I'm not where I oughta' be (cliche) but I truly thank God that I'm not what I used to be! I sit under such great leadership and have such a deep respect for my pastor. He's actually one of my influences too(A present-day male Dr. Mattie Moss Clark), but I am learning alot from him." MauRece is currently preparing to start his own choir here in the windy city.

I have a dear love for the anointed, legendary, infamous, illustrious ministry of The Famed Clark Sisters. I love these girls from Detroit. They are so awesome, and have some REAL testimonies. I have a special love for Karen because her testimony was so profound, letting me know that if God did it for her, he can do it for me.
