Singer Dave and lead guitarist Mick met at Music College in the late nineties and played in a couple of bands together, summer 2000 saw them recruit Hami on bass and Chris on drums to form Stillife. By 2001, the band had played support slots with bands such as The Supernaturals and Dirty Harry. November 2001 also saw the band record and release a 6-track demo mini album Tales. In February 2002, Stillife, along with 4 other bands, auditioned for a support slot at American Rockers, Puddle of Mudd debut London gig. They were beaten by a band from London called Nutonic (now Blind Diviner), who they struck up a friendship with, and later in the year, gigged with at various venues in the UK. A charity event in the Glasgow Barrowlands Ballroom in front of a 1500 strong crowd for SAE College and appearing at the Ross Bandstand stage in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, live on cable T.V. and on the web during the Edinburgh Festival were just a few of the highlights for 2003. Another recording, this time Nashville producer Jake Nicely and Lori Skilling mixed new songs Rising Sun and A Word to the Wise for the 2003 demo. Gigs followed in London with Nutonic and The Editors and at home in Scotland where the band played in front of a sell out crowd at the legendary King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, supporting The Subways. Stillife also recorded The Gravity Sessions ep - 3 tracks recorded over 3 days at Gravity Studios in Glasgow, engineered, mixed and produced by Brian McNeil. Songs on the CD are Scratch the Surface, Down and Fortyfive. More gigs to promote the then recently recorded Gravity Sessions e.p. in 2004 and into 2005 followed by an entry into the Emergenza unsigned band competition which saw the band get to the semi-final. Also the band were short-listed from over 700 entrants for the Radio 1 and Tennents sponsored T-Break showcases. Recently the band supported Staind at the Garage and Gilby Clarke at The Cathouse in Glasgow, The Sesational Alex Harvey Band at The eXchange in Edinburgh and Wishbone Ash at Perth Concert Hall. Numerous gigs are lined up for the coming months to support the new demo album "Caught in the Crossfire".
