I grew up in a small welsh mining valley. One of my earliest memories involves hiding under the bedcovers late at night to listen to a Dansette that would only receive Radio Luxembourg. Another involves singing hymns in Sunday School while holding my grandmother’s hand.
Much later, having taken a nightshift at a remote water treatment plant, I began to tinker with loops on a smuggled laptop, running off copies for friends. Ultimately, I was sacked for failing to hear a test alarm while trying to chop out a tricky Chopin loop using headphones.
Eventually, I set about distributing free tracks via my website, publicised via graffiti on public transport and leaflets hidden in high street magazine racks.
After coming to the attention of Neil Cocker of Phantom Beats, I was asked to provide remixes for Plastic Raygun. Following airplay on Radio1, 6Music and Radio Wales, tracks appeared on compilations from Solid Earth, WMF and Big Chill.
Lowsparks' first two eps, :esque and :tempus, were written and recorded late at night in a converted chapel in rural Wales. They are released via White Label Music.
