THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT.eL is a four-piece band that has been playing original melodic rock, infused with a Brit-pop influence, for over six years for local, national and international audiences. This South Florida-based indie act is characterized by outstanding vocals, driving rhythms and memorable hooks, and consistently delivers an energetic live performance.Singer/songwriter Jeremy Clark founded the band under the name Vinyl in 1997 and released a five-song EP shortly thereafter. The follow-up album, “Here We Are Again,†earned Clark industry recognition when he won the GMA Songwriter of the Year Award in 1999 for the album’s title track.Jeremy has been influenced by many Latin artists as he was raised in Bogotá Colombia, he lived there 17 years of his life, and has a huge heart for the Colombian people and his Colombian roots although he is not of Colombian descent. In 2003, the band recorded their first full-length, self-titled album in Nashville at the White House studio along the infamous music row. The new 10-song album—produced by Conner, engineered by Jeremy Hunter and mixed by Grammy Award-winning engineer, Charles Dye—showcases the band’s maturing songwriting ability and signature sound. eL recently released the album through their own label, Revolution by Popular Demand Records, and is currently seeking a distribution deal.In both 2000 and 2002, eL traveled to Europe to headline 10-date tours of Italy and Finland, respectively, and is planning to tour their new album throughout the south- and northeastern U.S. and again in Europe in 2005.This year, the band secured opening spots for national recording artists Local H, Muse, Presidents of the USA, The Music, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, The Explosion, K’s Choice, Seven Mary Three and has performed with indie artists such as Boxelder, The Kick, The Lot Six, Doorway 27 and many more. The Palm Beach Post staff writer Bill Meredith describes eL’s music as “infectious. Originals like It’s All Over and Give Me a Feeling … are at once melodic and muscular, mixing Brit-pop from The Cure to Radiohead and Seattle sounds from Nirvana to Paul Westerberg.†In his weekly “Local Scene†column for the Miami-based Sun Sentinel, Jason Knappel characterized eL’s music as follows: “They partake in the post-Bends era Radiohead scramble for Brit-pop supremacy, but they are distinctly American.â€
