This is the real Witch Doctor

Why Witch Doctor?
Because I’m not a musician, nor a DJ, nor a composer, but a sorcerer.
To me, Music is a bridge between two worlds.
A real DJ has to be a shaman, not a star.
The feeling that guides a good artist is similar to telepathy.
I really consider House music as a true spiritual thing.
House was made to awake, exhort, raise, fill with enthusiasm, as much as make people cum.
It is concentrated mescaline on wax.
Mexican shamans use mescaline during initiation rituals. Western DJs have invented House music as an antidote against contemporary ataraxy.

Musicians or DJs have a high degree of responsibility.
Because one single night or record can change your life for ever.
Vinyls are not simply innocent things to hop up on the dancefloor on Saturday nights. They are vibratory philters, which spread energies, sensations, emotions and feelings, like subliminal messages, onto a very receptive crowd.

This conception of music is deeply connected with another activity I have been practicing and teaching for 20 years: Tai chi chuan and martial arts.

Music, as well as tai chi, helps people become more receptive to their environment, to their body, their sensations and to other people. It is a means of communication, a language based on vibration and energy, as much as a culture.
House music and tai chi share the same essential principle: loosening one's grip, letting it go.

Release yourself!

For all theses reasons, I consider music making as a way to doctor bodies, minds and souls.
One should not go into making music if he is not ready and willing to give his best with enthusiasm and generosity.
I started up when I was a teenager, DJing during private parties, making my own mixtapes, remixes and jingles.
Then experienced in the early 80s radio broadcasting with the creation of the first French student free radio and a daily session devoted to funk.
1988/89 was a turning point in my life.
I discovered Acid house and New beat, later Techno music, together with a totally different manner of experimenting sound and clubbing: festive, intensely close, sensitive, extreme, and overall less elitist, on the opposite side from those uptight 80s clubs for VIPs.

I met that year my friend Sal Russo - aka Doctor Beat - the boss of BPM, the first record store devoted to House and Techno in Paris. A gathering spot for a whole tribe of fans and young DJs with names unknown: Jerome Pacman, Olivier le Castor, Guillaume la Tortue, Manu Casana.

Among this small community, I took part in the organization of Trax, the first resident party of a young, passionate, talented and gold fated DJ: Laurent Garnier. Heard about him?...

At that time I started composing analogue synthesizers tracks which were still deeply influenced by the dark sound of the late 80s: New wave and New beat.
Today my music is focused on American House, with strong Techno, Electro, Hip hop or Latin influences.
I don’t DJ anymore but my music moves on Gospel House and Spiritual future musics, Sound design, OST and show soundtrack.

I regularly collaborate with Hip hop artists, as well as other House and Electro composers, DJs and musicians from different styles: Jazz, Cuban, R&B...

I saw the future and it’s worth!

Welcome on board.

ENJOY!
