Thad told me this many years ago and it got to me when he said it. He probably doesn't even remember saying it to me. He just said, 'Whenever you play, imagine that it's the very last chance or opportunity you'll ever have.' So just that thought is enough incentive to at least not be wishy-washy or do something insignificant. At least it will bring out whatever honesty is in you to be applied to your instrument at that time. That's the only philosophy I know -- just to do the very best you can at all times.
- Elvin Jones
From Thelonious Monk's Wikipedia article:
It is said that he would rarely speak to anyone other than his beloved wife Nellie, and certainly in later years it was reported that he would go through an entire tour without speaking to the other members of his group. Bassist Al McKibbon, who had known Monk for twenty years and played on his final tour in 1971, later said "On that tour Monk said about two words. I mean literally maybe two words. He didn't say 'Good morning', 'Goodnight', 'What time?' Nothing. Why, I don't know. He sent word back after the tour was over that the reason he couldn't communicate or play was that Art Blakey and I were so ugly."

Congratulations, Courtney! Your IQ score is 133This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.Your Intellectual Type is Visual Mathematician. This means you are gifted at spotting patterns — both in pictures and in numbers. These talents combined with your overall high intelligence make you good at understanding the big picture, which is why people trust your instincts and turn to you for direction — especially in the workplace. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
its boring.
i'm really not a big fan of life... i dont strive to do anything, and have a theory that God made a big mistake.
when i was a little kid, no one would tell me the difference between horror and whore.
in relationship to society... i'm not dark or twisted... you could easily understand me, i didnt dye my hair black, i dont have any piercings, tats, or body mods, so you could say i'm still original. i dont get amped, stoked, pumped up, juiced, or anything else, cause i just dont feel like exerting myself and i feel emotion handicaps you. i sometimes play hockey, or any other sport, pool, fooseball, madden, drums, a little bass and piano... i used to spar (hit people and get hit with gloves on) but i dont think its good to get hit in the head on a regular basis. aside from that, i spend most of my time at the computer for reasons unknown. if you want to know anything else, then that means you can actually comprehend thought. so for the vast majority of you, this paragraph will suffice.
If there is anything that this horrible tragedy can teach us, it's that a male model's life is a precious, precious commodity. Just because we have chiseled abs and stunning features, it doesn't mean that we too can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident. - derek zoolander

"...to emphasize the afterlife is to deny life. To concentrate on Heaven is to create hell. In their desperate longing to transcend the disorderliness, friction, and unpredictability that pesters life; in their desire for a fresh start in a tidy habitat, germ-free and secured by angels, religious multitudes are gambling the only life they may ever have on a dark horse in a race that has no finish line."-Tom Robbins

Movies:

well... i have only seen like a few thousand of them since my conception... thus, its hard to even bring one to mind... i'll humor you though with this small excerpt from what i like to call, my quick top ten list.10. any of the original three star wars, cause i was like 5 and that snizap was hizot 9.the ladies man (that was a long shot for old leon) 8.army of darkness (awesome humor horror flick with bruce campbell) 7.jacobs ladder (this movie is about something deep... um, but i live on a raft) 6.forest gump...(to this day i am still intrigued by boxed chocolate. there's life in there somewhere) 5.hero (this movie is the best thing i ever read!) 4.fear and loathing in las vegas (about one great mans adventure against all odds...) 3.zoolander (a deeper look into the treacherous world of male modeling) 2.the burbs (staring skinny tom hanks) and the number one, overall movie, from my amazing "quick top ten list..." 1.one night in paris... um... the real number one movie 1.the aqua teen hunger force season three dvd? wait... thats not considered a movie...plus season four is more rockin. ok... here it is. 1.the princess bride (my westley will always come for me...)
i wanted to make a special inclusion... in my top 10 i didnt list the movie "The Big Lebowski." the reason being is that this movie was immaculately inspired thus competing from an unfair playing field.

Television:

my favorite television is a plasma. and my favorite show to watch is aqua teen hunger force followed by the family guy, cause its comedic genius. as for non network shows, i'd have to go with deadwood, rome and entourage (cause of ari gold) part of hbo's steller programming.
