Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, American Psycho, Lord of the Rings, Neuromancer, anything by Phillip K. Dick or T.C. Boyle. Pattern Recognition by William Gibson was dissapointing. The Dark Tower Series. Don't read the very end, it's better if you don't. Pillars of The Earth was excellent. Budding Prospects by T.C. Boyle was good, too.
