About Me
Fans in the Dirty have been feelin Tha Breeze since this Raleigh-based tough-around-the-edges romantic first opened for Reakwon. With his upcoming debut drop Feel the Breeze, the 24-year old rapper, writer, beatsmith, and Martial Arts fighter/instructor is taking his potent blend of down-south rap and r&b to hoods from coast to coast. Aided and abetted by a genre-jumping crew of infectious hookmasters (his brother, AK, and producer Devaron Benjamin, among them), Tha Breezes freshman outing showcases his smooth-as-a-crooner flow, coupled with a strength and integrity that is pure hip-hop. (Start thinking Tupac meets Brian McKnight.) Standout among such radio friendly tracks as Remember Me and Rap Game 101 is the gospel flavored first single, Where Would I Be?. The latter features a guest verse by that charismatic up-and-comer from Brooklyn, MYNORiTY, who marvels at his friend: Tha Breeze is a true urban poet. His lyrics are at the core.off the hook!Music was not Tha Breezes first career goal. Your boy was always physical, as well as lyrical, he points out. Having won endless high profile Martial Arts competitions--the first at age 10--, he went on to play football at Virginia State, and fast became a record-breaking runningback.(He also aced college with a 3.4 GPA; in close circles he earned his first AKA--Scholar Wise.) I used to believe football was my winning ticket, Tha Breeze continues, but the politics of collegiate sports just drained my love for the game. And after getting a taste of performing.of being on stage, the crowds and all I realized success and loss on the field was just a rehearsal for the ups and downs you experience in the rap game. Besides, music has always been a part of me.When hes not living life as a solo artist, Tha Breeze is part of the hard-rappin group known as Ironhood. (His brother, AK, and cousin, Mavrik, complete the trio.) With Ironhood he gets to explore the grittier side of his musical persona, while serving up some fiercely innovative and socially conscious hip-hop. The acts debut album, Act Like You Want 2, is scheduled to drop soon.
