About Me
Beaux Foy (Airiel Down) and John Popper (Blues Traveler) after the Airiel Down/ZO2 Show,
New York City
Airiel Down is a nationally touring, independent rock band based out of Raleigh, NC. Having played over 200 shows in 20 states in the past 1½ years from the east to the west coast and gaining radio airplay in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, the band prides themselves on their hard work, relentless attitude, and high energy live show. Many critics, such as Benjamin Ray, claim “Airiel Down is one of the hardest-working indie bands in the country.â€
The band incorporated its own production company and record label, Autumn Rain Records, at its inception in 2003. Each band member plays a vital role in the day-to-day business of the band by each taking on numerous responsibilities such as, marketing, booking, public relations, web design and updates, finances, and of course Beaux drives the tour bus.
Their debut record, Vision, was recorded in 2006 by John Plymale (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Meat Puppets) at Overdub Lane in Durham, NC and was mastered by Greg Calbi (Springsteen, Dylan, Bowie) at Sterling Sound in NYC. The band is currently recording their follow up album due out this fall.
What the critics are saying about Airiel Down!
* “Airiel Down is a power rock group that sound like they need to be filling stadiums to be truly appreciated. The North Carolina band could well be one of the hardest working indie bands in the states.â€
- Rock 3 Music (UK)
* “If there’s any justice in the music world, we’d hear bands like Airiel Down on the radio more often. They are one of the more creative new rock groups, combining several diverse styles with a bar band mentality to create a good time.â€
- Benjamin Ray, Daily Vault
* “North Carolina native Beaux Foy has assembled an impressive collection of songs and surrounded himself with equally adept musicians to execute Airiel Down’s debut album.â€
- Kelly O’ Neil, Reviewyou.com
* “Their music has great melodies, tight rhythms, beautiful guitar riffs, interesting lyrics, and overall first-rate musicianship. A very radio-friendly collection of songs.â€
- Mary Lemanski, Loosey Lucy
“They record and release their own music and have built a following the old fashioned way by touring to gain audiences. Airiel Down has come by their fans by way of hard work. The high energy live shows they put on have distanced themselves from the many other rock bands in the US trying to make it.â€
