To say that Dave Felipe “found music†wouldn’t be entirely accurate.
In reality, it found him.
He's been a rabid music junkie ever since discovering his parents' vinyl record collection at the age of five and immersing himself in the sounds of the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the Doors, CSNY and others. But it wasn't until 18 years later that fate intervened and he made the transition from being merely a fan to a musician himself.
At 23, about to start a white-collar job and seeking a hobby to balance out the stress of working in Washington's intense political scene, Dave bought his first guitar. By teaching himself the basics of the instrument and gradually learning the songs of his own musical idols, he not only found the outlet he had been searching for. He discovered that playing music lit a fire inside of him unlike anything he had ever known.
Now, years later, what began as a hobby has become Dave's driving passion. Not content to merely cover other artists' work, he began penning his own songs in 2002 and has been fervently writing ever since. Drawing inspiration from the people, issues and emotions he encounters every single day, Dave's songwriting aims to be soulful and thought-provoking, with melodies and concepts that every listener can interpret and relate to in their own unique way.
Following the completion of a three-song studio EP in early 2007, he left the corporate job and relocated to New York City to pursue music full-time. He regularly plays venues throughout New York and has also appeared live in Nashville, Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Georgia.
"Running Man", Dave's debut EP, has been met with high praise from many in the industry. The title track has been licensed for use in two upcoming independent films while the protest song, "Something's Gotta Give" was ranked in the top 25 on Neil Young's Living with War Today site and licensed for a TV pilot as well.
Coming in 2008 will be a new acoustic/unplugged EP called "Six Strings Only" and a full band single called "In November".
