About Me

This page contains the first recordings Maude have completed together on their journey into the realms of otherworldly pop.
Its the outer sound from way in...baby.
Maude were conceived after Snap Ant & Linus turned Coldcuts single Man In A Garage into an ..off-kilter and unholy combination of Bowie, swamp blues and punk funk by re-recording it and making it something of their own. Prior to this the two had been working together in the band that Snap Ant had put together to promote his own debut album This Is Jut!. After supporting Ladytron on tour and playing in various corners of the UK, they decided to manifest their joint fascination of Sunset Beach dream sequences, Prince and Os Mutantes into a musical concept. Basing themselves at Linus' Cassette studio in Liverpool, SA & Linus began constructing the foundations of their marred vision of pop.
The music twisted and turned through the cold and dank corners of Cassette and mutated into the sound of the Zappa family having an argument at a grime rave. Things were going well but it was still instrumental. Linus and SA still needed something and it was at a gig in a Liverpool hellhole that they found it. Lynsey Packman wore an unusual sweater and sang about strange things. SA and Linus related and Lynsey joined in the pop cacophony.
Kate Stothert turned up at Cassette one day with a burning desire to beat the living hell out of some drums. So impressive was her smashing that her presence soon became compulsory.
Maude live, coming soon.
