What sets me apart from other rappers is,that I'm not affraid to stray from the norm at times in order to createoriginal and creative music. Im not stuck in the formula for a hit...That's to easy to do, and I can do more than just make a little hit single.Dont get me wrong, I realize that in the music business to stay around andExperience a long career in this business "hits" are a neccesity. That's the reason for the gareenteed hit single "Everyday," and for theclub banger, "F*** Them N*****. The thing is, I'm not limited to that,I make music about all types of various subjects that hit fans from arelatable standpoint. We all live, we all try, we all fail, but only some... Prevail. Put Ya Chips In...BIO: Eric Blands A.K.A PROPHET was and born and raised in Englewood, NJ and now resides Northern VA pursuing his music career. He has always been interested in music itself. It was kind of hard for him to get away from it since everyone in his family sang. He just happened to gravitate towards Hip Hop like most black male youth of today, meanwhile still retaining a love for R&B and an array of different genres. Heavily influenced by many Hip Hop artists, the ones that stand out are Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, and Eminem in no specific order. Though these are the first to come to mind he still listens to and respects an array of artists like Kool G Rap, Common, Dead Pres, Lil Brother, Slum Village, Ericka Badu, Jill Scott, Dwelye, Twista, K. West, and list goes on.Since moving into the domain of the DIRTY SOUTH Prophet has been able to broaden his horizons and become more versatile in his craft. Prophet writes his lyrics from the heart and likes to use real life experiences to influence his material. At the same time he likes to make feel good music as well. Something you can move your body to. While staying true to his self Prophet brings a fresh sound to the scene. He doesn't like to keep the same dynamics of his flow on every song. Switching it up is must if you want to have longevity in this biz and he definitely brings that to the table. Prophet pushes to be unique to set his self apart from other artists.Prophet has been perfecting his craft for years but he is just getting started in the game (on the business side of things). His biggest accomplishment to him self is staying focused as a full time artist as well as evolving as an artist and a person. He lives life on his terms and none other. He has performed at a number of venues in the D.C. metropolitan area such as Club U (D.C.), Fatty J's, Central Station, Bourbon Room (VA), just to name a few. Currently he is a key figure in a movement that goes by the name of 95 Connect. This movement is a conglomerate of different artists, labels, marketing, and production companies. For information check it out myspace at www.myspace.com/95connection. As a whole the movement has been apart of two mixtapes, one being Prophet's debut mixtape titled "The Book of Luck". You can check this out on myspace at www.myspace.com/prophet95.Why the name Prophet you ask. Let's start from the beginning. It all started about 6 maybe 7 years ago when he went by the name the Theory. No real story behind it though, just picked out of hat but as a lyricist it fit. As he got older he thought it was time for a change and the name Prophet just had a ring to it. It described him more as an artist due to his versatility and relatability in the content of his lyrics. It almost like he is going through all life’s struggles and joys right there with you. The name also gives him the ability to stretch the box with his music and not be branded as one kind of artist. The world should view Prophet anything other than the person sitting next to on the bus or someone standing on the corner waiting to cross the street. He is on earth just like the next man going through the same day to day grind just trying making and getting the most out of life. His main goal is not necessarily to be famous, but to hit people in the hearts and minds when listened to. He wants to the record you put in when you’re having a bad day, or when you need motivation, or when you had some type of success in you life and you like you're on cloud nine. PROPHET IS A REAL ARTIST AND IS MAKING HIS VOICE BE HEARD BY HITTING THE STREETS AND THE INTERNET AS HARD AS HE CAN TO DELIVER GOOD QUALITY HIP HOP TO THE WORLD'S EARS.
