It seems that the arrival of D-RIP has been long overdue. As a young boy growing up in the streets of Baltimore, D-RIP has always been amused by the lyrical poetry of the rap genre. It's obvious from hearing his music for the first time that D-RIP has a gift for bringing out the art in his work. His ear catching hooks and edgy punch lines are sure to knock you out in the first round.Born as Derrick Johnson Jr., this Coppin State University student was born into a family of music from day one. He watch attentively as his father played bass with other family members to form the first reggae band in Baltimore called the Determination Band. D-RIP traveled all over with the family band since the age of two, perfecting their affection to music and admiration for unique melodies. It was soon discovered that he had a gift for writing and performing rap music. D-RIP has always stood out from everyone even at a young age which is why his music seems so far beyond his years. When he turned 16 years old, his cousin invited him to a studio session. This trip has turned into a life-long commitment and dedication for D-RIP. After amazing everyone in the studio, he then began to blaze many local talent showcases and numerous clubs in the Baltimore, Washington, and Virginia areas. People from all over soon learned about the young man with the flaming rap style and everyone's been calling for him ever since. D-RIP recently had to retire from Baltimore's ..1 Radio Station 92Q after a 5 week rap battle of complete victory. Everyone that went against him left in shame. He amazed the radio disk jockeys not to mention Baltimore listeners. D-RIP has been called on to open up for many familiar names in the music industry such as Elephant Man, Trey Songz, Slim Thug, and Cool G Rap just to name a few. When D-RIP goes into the booth it seems as though he steps into a comfort zone. When he performs it seems so natural; one can quickly sense that he was destining to become a star. His flow is sick and lyrically, he's one of the best rappers coming out of B-More.His first single "It's Nothin" speaks for itself with lyrics such as, "I guess by now you heard about my flow/I caught a buzz from word a mouth I know/It's Nothin for me to hit you in the head with some sh..t like this it's D-Rip/You know I keep it jumping." Look out for him to drop his first Original CD. Also holla at him if you want a copy of his latest mixtape, "Mix Tape for the Streetz."
