As a high school senior, I competed in Miss Texas Pageant. Texarkana is half in Texas, half in Arkansas. The Stateline runs down the middle and when you are driving south you are in Texas.....when you are driving north, your are in Arkansas.
As Miss Texarkana, you get to compete in Miss Texas the first year and Miss Arkansas the second year. I attended Centenary College which made me eligible also for Miss Louisiana. I competed my third year of pageants in Miss Louisiana and won a preliminary talent award, preliminary swimsuit award and the title of Miss Louisiana, 1995. I competed in Miss America 1996 and won the Bert Parks Talent Award.
I have the distinct honor of having competed in three state pageants, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana, but never changed my residence!!As Miss Louisiana, I became the official spokesperson for the state and traveled all over Louisiana, speaking at schools, churches, synagogues, performed at numerous pageants, sport events, festivals and jamborees promoting my platform. BESTME (Building Esteem So They May Excel).
I had several highlights during my year of service. Among them was meeting Charlton Heston (Moses himself) Check out the pix on my picture page.CHECK OUT MY COMPETITION PICTURES
