About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
I'm a music lover from way, way, WAY back. Uh, let's see ... tryin' to remember who I listened to in my youth ... Oh yeah! It was Cab Calloway, Count Bassie, Pearl Bailey, Lena Horne, Arthur Prysock, Tony Bennett, my home boy Duke Ellington, Eartha Kitt, Ella Fitzgerald, ... okay, let me stop playin' with y'all! Are y'all with me, though? Remember, I was born in 1929, aight? LOL! (Although I still really love Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald)!Seriously, though, I do love music, and have for as long as I can remember!Isn't it amazing how God endows you with something that you just KNOW you were created to do? Something He PURPOSED you to do? Well, it's music for me, and I thank Him daily for that. I mean, some folks live and die not knowing their life's true purpose, so I feel especially blessed that I know mine!Confession: I'm really not in my late '70s, aight? Aight. I AM old, though. As a kid, music always enthralled me. Even then, I enjoyed all genres, singing to all the records that my grandmother, mother, and older sisters played. I mean EVERY DAY! I'd learn every song, and this constant practicing taught me how to harmonize. Of course, I didn't know until later that it was called "harmonizing". LOL!My musical tastes run the gamut, from Prince Rodgers Nelson, EWF, Mandrill and Chicago, to Level 42 (bassist Mark King is baaad), Thomas Dolby, Average White Band ("Cloudy" is a classic), The Mills Brothers (check their harmony - TIGHT), Paul Young, Fred Hammond, Tye Tribbett & GA, Tonex, and a real MINTY band near and dear to my heart. As a hint, check my name, music and photo! But more about them later!!!!!!!When listening to music, for me, it's GOTTA have a nice groove to it. The drums and the bass MUST be thumping and in sync! The lyrics have to mean something, too. That's what I call REAL MUSIC! To be honest, there's really not much out there these days that satisfy my musical tastes like the music of real, live bands, like ......... MINT CONDITION! Yeah! The men of Mint Condition: Stokley Williams (one of the tightest vocalists and drummers this side of heaven), Ricky Kinchen on bass, Homer O'Dell on guitar, Lawrence Waddell on keys and Jeffrey Allen on saxophone and keys. Also, for our listening pleasure, there's Chris "Daddy" Dave contributing on drums on the various studio cuts, and Terry Westly giving it up on drums during their live performances! If you're a SERIOUS Mint Condition lover, a SERIOUS musician or a SERIOUS music lover, or if you have a favorite vocalist, drummer or bassist you wanna talk about, hit me up! Also, let's reminisce about ol' skool bands! Does anybody remember Mandrill or Mother's Finest? Let's do this!

Books:

The greatest book ever written, which is the Bible! Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth! I also enjoyed "The Purpose Driven Life", and "The Prayer of Jabez".

Heroes:

My mother! That woman is totally THE BOMB! A pillar of strength, and always in my corner! I have to say that my children are also my heroes because they have exhibited a strength that I never knew they had! Just like palm trees; they may bend, but they won't BREAK! Truly "chips off the old block", and that block would be ME! LOL!!!
